Can anyone recommend any bars and pubs for our day out in Manchester? Thanks.

Sinclair's Oyster Bar in Exchange Square is usually our pre-match port of call.

Assuming the weather's OK of course.

Not telling, our usual bar was far too busy last year and ended up closing for 10 minutes when they ran out of pint glasses

That Sammy Smiths near that big wheel with the beer garden.

The usual places on match day are horrible. I go up into the back end of beyond in the Northern Quarter

we usually go early and go to the trafford arms at the top of busby way, the atmosphere before kick off is fantastic!!!

Anyone know anywhere decent to go late on Friday night?

if you're in the city centre you can really go wrong with the print works then when you get nearer the stadium theres loads of bar/restaurant type places on the salford quays (easy walking distance from the stadium)

Do what we normally do, gather on the streets outside the Trafford Pub with a shed load of cans! Cheaper, can have a good laugh and there's normally a cracking atmosphere!

The ale in there is cr4p, although it is a totty trap

I'm 22, why bother queueing for 20 minutes to pay £3.50 a pint when you can take a crate on the corner and drink as much as you like without having to bother?

That's exactly what me and my Dad do, might as well IMO. You don't get the pain of queing up every 10 minutes for god knows how long in that pub.

Warm cans on a street corner, nice, I am green with envy.

£3.50 a pint? Come off it, I don't drink slops like that. I shall be paying at least £4 for bottles of fine German beer in an exclusive bar before the match.

beer? I plan to be drinking only the finest scotch all weekend. Single malt, never less than seven years old.

Manchester's a big old place, i'm sure it would be easy enough to find a pub that isn't packed to the rafters away from the ground. If your wanting to drink around the stadium i'd go with west cumbrian rhinos strategy and buy some cans. If you buy a couple at a time from a well stocked off licence fridge you're laughing. We found a little polish store in wembley that was selling ice cold 6% polish lager for £1.10 a chuck, job done. I've spent about 20 of my 45 years queueing in pubs for flat overpriced beer, there'll be none of that on saturday.

I wouldnt go near the centre of Manchester as its full of the typical types. best bet is to get down to the boozers on Oxford Road or Deansgate. Student central places too where its full of totty and the bars are decent, good ale and its not over priced

There won't be any flat overpriced beer for me on Saturday either, after all, I am a discerning drinker. Only the best for me.

You wouldn't even know a big RL match is being played when you go drinking around Manchester City Centre on Saturday. The places up near where West Cumbrian Rhino is going to be drinking are quite expensive, certainly not £1.10 a can, so if you are desperate to act like a tramp, probably best to buy somewhere else and bring them in a carrier bag.

Just out of interest, where do you go for a slash around there? The place is crawling with pigs.

I'll have a crate on the bus with me, I'll just take some of them out with me!

The going for a slash thing doesn't bother me, I've learned to control my bladder!
