Ouch.
10 carries by Mr Kirke. How many times has he reached double figures this season?

| Hauraki 30 tackles no misses jumps out at me.
As well as Buderus's 3 errors but I am sure those were down to somebody else.

| The 'Assist' I thought was fortunate to be awarded was the one given to Sinfield for nothing more than a regulation pass leaving Watkins still with plenty to do.
I'd also like to cross those off for blatant forward passes (if I could) McGuire for Webb's first springs to mind here, not forgetting the one from earlier in the season awarded to Watkins for possibly the most blatant (amongst many contenders) of forward passes to Hardaker to finish superbly against St Helens at Headingley.

Just out of interest, when did Kirke last miss a tackle, make an error or give away a penalty - I've looked back 5 games (see other thread on Weller) and he's 0-0-0...maybe this is the secret of his ever present selection - McDermott figuring well Kirke might not do owt but at least he won't f*ck up

So about a 3rd of the time?
How less than 5 carry games? (4 being the golden number )

JJB's for Hall's try too, Hall still had a man to beat.
Slightly OT tvoc, but can you tell me who the highest try scoring non-winger is please? I think Senior, others have said McGuire?

Likewise, Bill Arthur's commentary over the highlights prior to the Bulls/HKR game said something like... "when Sinfield set up the centre who reached out to score". Can't remember the exact words but I remember thinking... Eh?!

Bearing in mind that the 'almost weekly' Opta threads only cover the SL Regular Rounds (as that is all ther SL website appear to be interested in - Opta wise - they don't even include the Play-Offs) Kirke last contributed in the negative stat column in the Round 18 game at the Crusaders where he is credited with an error. Last Kirke missed tackle was Round 17 - Kull KR (home), last Kirke penalty conceded Round 9 - Hull KR (A)
The eagle eyed will have spotted the all too obvious flaw in that the Challenge Cup games are not covered and so his blatant knock on in the Semi-Final wouldn't usually share the same spotlight. That said last week's knock on did receive a prominent mention here: viewtopic.php?f=17&t=503988

Depends on the criteria set to get to the answer.
For Leeds it's McGuire (196), for the whole of SL it's probably still Senior when you combine his 40+ tries scored with Sheffield to his 171 scored with Leeds. Perhaps A-Fire-Inside has the up to date comparable totals?
As far as I can tell Danny McGuire is the highest try-scoring non-winger (for this club) in Leeds' history as he only trails Eric Harris (391), John Atkinson (340), Alan Smith (283) and Drew Turnbull (22icon_cool.gif

| Has Clarkson made 10 or more carries in a game? 6? Kirke gets so much stick yet Clarkson doesn't. I hope Clarkson improves but at the moment I'm not sure he deserves his place in the 17.

Clarkson has double figure carries in 5 of his 18 Appearances. His average number of carries per appearance are 7.72.
If you wish to compare that with Kirke, he has 8 double figure carries from his 22 Appearances at an average of 7.86 per game.

Almost double the tackles Kirke made. Not to mention Clarkson has been a full timr player 12 months, Kirke has been 6 years. Kirke is a front rower, Clarkson a loose forward.
Otherwise, excellent comparison.

Kirke averages 18.86 tackles per game. Clarkson averages 24.22
Clarkson also averages more tackle busts and clean breaks. Maybe young Clarkson would do a better job at prop than kirke?

Perhaps but not as good a job as Burrow based solely on those two factors alone?
Increasingly the modern day loose forward is often utilised as an extra prop so perhaps the comparison is not as far-fetched as it first appears especially if the loose in question is not noted as a ball handler.

For a forward to make less than 10 carries in a game regardless of whether he plays in the front row or the back row isn't good enough. His defense isn't as good as its made out to be either, he makes a lot of tackles, but then again when your only averaging 7 carries a match I'd expect the amount of tackles you make to be high. I think the kid has potential. He runs great lines and has good footwork. However, at the moment he rairly wins a collision in attack or defense, and his work rate in attack isn't good enough especially when he plays 80 minutes most weeks.

I thought Webb's was reasonable Karma for the one chalked off last week from his pass in the semi
Incidentally (mainly for G1) have you seen Kirkes drive in the build up to the try [url=http://www.youtube.com/user/SLHighlights?blend=21&ob=5#p/u/5/S2kIeQ0c9SY(see about 1m2icon_cool.gif[/url.
(BTW on my computer that video - the official SL highlights one - seems to run slightly fast, not sure if they were trying to cram the tries into an allotted max time but watch how quick even the slowest players seem)
