| Buderus on the field....Leeds look good. Buderus off the field....Leeds lose their shape. Buderus back on the field.....Leeds look good again.
Buderus leads the defence and always looks dangerous from dummy half.
Why do successive Leeds coaches fail to see it ?
I DID state Leeds would raise their game tonight. Teams do so against the champions: Leeds had to suffer being on the receiving end for many recent previous seasons.
The true test will come next week.

| Nail on head.
and it's infuriating - RhinoNeil it's a fair concern but by his own admission Buderus can and wants to play the 80 mins.
His pass out the back to Ablett was just sheer class.

| I agree btw, Buderus was outstanding. Such a class act. Its a shame he is at the end of his days. In his prime we could expect a full 80 of brilliance.

Buderus was as good as he was because of the rest. I fail to believe he can keep that up for a full 80. Its a choice of have him out there for 45-60 and be absolutely brilliant or have an average 80.

| Maybe we chould play him for the first 79 minutes straight and then take him off before he has a last minute brainfart, like he did again last night? Great player, but his propensity to do something stupid right at the death is seriously spoiling his performances for me.

| everyone as their own opinions/agenda and it seems that the odd mistake is pounced on. I haven't seen many slating DMgs (by the way DMgs is quality) for the poor defensive efforts and the attemt to catch a fly on the Richards jump. Yet here we go again Buderus having a great game and cops it again for the odd mistake. I agree DB should be on the full 80

if thats all you can come up with then it doesn't evee warrant a mention.
Did Gareth tell you to say that? We are talking final seconds here, not ridiculous passes with 5 minutes left when there is still time to build pressure thta big Ali has treated us to the last 2 weeks.
His never say die attitude is awesome. This guy is a winner you can tell it hurts him losing. If only the rest of the team felt the same.

You really are becoming very difficult to please Bats! Are you trying to get in with G1?
Buderus has been one of our best and most consistent forwards whether he plays 60, 70 or 79 mins. His effort and ability to organise defense and forward attack plus his high tackle count (many of which are first in round the ankles which stop the player dead) surely allow the odd mistake. The hookers role is the most demanding one in modern rugby league. Most other clubs spell their hookers and as Burrow was picked in a dual role capacity he had to have some game time and in that time produced a long pass for a try.
Last night when in the final minutes (after fatty Lauitiiti had throw posession away when within range of their line) we had to throw caution to the wind and Buderuis attempted a round the player offload. Had it come off we might have had a chance of a score. After this had happened both JP and McGuire gave away what would qualify more as "brainfarts" but you choose not to mention.
So why accuse Buderus of a "brain fart" when there were at least 3 other better qualified contenders?
But then I am sure you think this was all the coaches fault whatever!

| JC, just to be absolutely clear, I am certain that Buderus is a very high quality player, possibly our best. He does all the things you mentioned and I would add he is the best cover defender at the club too, but he has displayed a propensity to make howlers at the most important times, probably because he is trying to make the "gamewinning play". I like the guy, I can see what he does for us and recognise that he is/was a great player (I said this in my previous post).
ps, I'm a bit too old to be trying to get in with anyone and I know G1 is not one to get in with anyway....

| Batley... to be fair, you are seemingly at risk here of pandering to one of G1's agendas and quite frankly, it's not a good look and it's getting noticed.
You really don't wanna be doing that

| careful Bats, any criticism of Buderus, however measured and justified, is simply not allowed.
The cold hard facts are he finished any potential chance we had at the end with two silly brain farts. For a player of his ability and experience for this to happen so regularly is unacceptable. If it were any other player he'd be slated mercilessly on here.

| He did a good job in attempting to chase a game that was lost by mistakes and a drop in intensity and a change in scoreline when he wasn't on the field. Obviously if it wasn't for that there would be no need to push a 5% pass in the last minute.

EXACTLY
All this nonsense about him not being an 80 min hooker is a red herring. If he looks like losing his go forward through fatigue then sub him .... in the meantime there is the increased chance of getting the game in the bag.... instead we persist in having him try to chase the game back after losing momentum.
It has been a persistent mis-use of a talented player's talents since his arrival for political reasons of trying to firstly placate Diskin and now apparently Burrow. McShane I could forgive more since he genuinely brought something different to the dummy half role with his kicking game.
Overall, however,IMO Buderus should be an integral 80 min player whenever he is fit. First name on the team sheet for me.

| Talk of mis-use what's the use of Kirke?
He made 4 drives (including a handling error from his first, god knows why he's trying to off-load all of a sudden) and only played 1 stint - what's the point?
with the team avaible I'd have slammed Ali down the middle, and added Pitts for Kirke. Why not?

The only good thing he did was a quick PTB which led to a try. However on reflection the Wigan players must have not bothered with their customary 4 man tackle when they saw Kirke trundling in, so they just released him early.

For next week if Hall is back I would try BJB at centre and Ablett & Delaney in the 2nd row with instructions to cover the centres in defense.

Listening to Mac after the game, i think we has going to make the same play as last week (bringing on Kirke for JP at the death) but JP refused to come off!!! Good to see where the coaching lies........

That could work. For me with BJB sheer pace i would keep him out on the wing.
He's going to have to wait a little longer to claim his fullback spot, he's fairing well on the wing so wouldn't rock the boat there. Let him get a run-in in a position he is likely to fill.
Ablett at centre looks awkward due to the fact that it's his decision making skills with ball in hand that are slow more than his actual quickness.
The flick-on assist he came up with was top draw.
As for Delaney. Meh. He was signed as a centre and it hasn't worked out. He will be better suited to the second row, die to the fact he can get through the donkey work in front on tackling and make the drives with strong leg strength. Just don't expect anything more than that. But into next season he will be on his third season, without offering too much. People talk about the older end players that need to be farmed out. But I would also question the point in keeping him, purely on a quality control point of view. When judiging a player, i ask 'what does he offer'? maybe that cheaper, homegrown, Clarskson doesn't?
