| I read your bit on a regular basis and I must say it's pretty good most of the time (with an obvious dislike for anything Wigan) but I normally let that go. I've just got a couple of questions...
How can the team who finishes top of the league beating every team in the league, knocking the current champions out, and winning the grand final be "unimpressive" champions? (Wigan)
And also you sound a tad bitter losing out to Bradford in 05, but didn't Leeds adopt this relaxed way of playing the regular rounds and ramping up the intensity in the play-offs, and go on to win 3 in a row?

| Good to see Damo's ramblings still provoke a response from visitors. We've sort of got a bit used to him round here....

| If bradford fans started going on about winning the treble in 2003 (breaching no rules) blah blah blah then the rhinos would be the first to state "STOP LIVING IN THE PAST" which in this case i think it what you need to stop doing - no one cares about 2005 apart from the bitter rhino fans !!!
Remeber Millenium magic last minute penalty Tansey offside - DIDNT THINK SO
Its all about today and the future, Bradford are cr*p, leeds and saints are mediocre and wigan and warrington now seem to be leading the way - things change, get over it !!

Agree on the last bit though we are mediocre and things do change.

Bless him.

Yes this maybe so but nothing can be done about it so why old news ??
I do wish Leeds Vs. Bradford games did have the same intensity they used to have - real nailbiters at times, just the big money owners at other clubs (mentioning no names) seem to be able to draw in the talent !!!
I think the passion is still in the fans for the derbies but seem to be lack of bradford/leeds born or stalwarts missing from the clubs to give the same effect on the pitch

Err... There were 8 players from Leeds' academy in the 17 for Crusaders last week... Plus Jamie Peacock, who fits the Leeds-born criterion.

I think when you were in the driving seat we were near the top and then around 2004 we were both playing right at the top and we had top of the table clashes. Then Bradford dropped from the radar while we were at the top and the derby match didn't mean as much to the league. Now we are both dropping down and the game as been dropped from sky. Not supprising really given the games being shown this weekend.
I actually think it's a good thing the game going from sky. Hopefully it will be a bigger crowd and better atmosphere as a result!!

I hope so i really do, also hope it will be a nice battle on the pitch too - a close affair instead of been one sided like in recent years

I wasnt just insinuating that at leeds cos i mean there is only a handfull of Bradford academy that have come through to 1st grade, i meant in recent years in general

Even many of your own fans would be happy to admit that Wigan didn’t bother getting out of third gear for most of last season. I’m not saying that you spent the whole season unimpressive – but you spent most of it unimpressive and a boring team to watch a times. However when Sam Tomkins was on top form (for all the right reasons) Wigan were joyful to watch.
Quote And also you sound a tad bitter losing out to Bradford in 05, but didn't Leeds adopt this relaxed way of playing the regular rounds and ramping up the intensity in the play-offs, and go on to win 3 in a row?'"
I’m very bitter about what happened in 2005. Leeds Rhinos had an impressive season until Bradford came away and took the spoils at the end of it. Also I want to point out that my article doesn’t praise Leeds Rhinos three in a row victories from 07 – 09. Whilst Bradford Bulls may have introduced ‘ramping up the intensity in the play-offs’, Leeds Rhinos well and truly mastered it. But a majority of matches throughout those three seasons were dull.
Throughout those three years when Leeds ended up become Champions Wigan tried the same tactics as Leeds under Brian Noble. Wigan’s play off form back in those days was astonishing and made you the third best side in the country. Michael Maguire came in to tweak things up a bit in 2011 which resulted Wigan in elevating from third best side in the country to first.
Were you entertaining champions? At times yes!
Not most of the time no.
Thanks for the compliments anyhow in regards to my articles

Leeds started the season in the best form I've ever seen them in (including 2004). However by late July the wheels had started to look very wobbly and to be honest by October it was a bit of a surprise that we made the final at all, which we did largely due to a phenomenal defensive effort at Knowsley Road (with a little help from Terry Newton and Ali "Linford" Lauititi). Truth is we didn't finish the season strongly enough to deserve to be champions.
The Bulls were very naughty children breaching the cap in the way they did, but on the field they won 13 in a row at the end of the season, when we crumbled a bit.

And Terry Newton was cited for a high tackle on Jamie Thackray in the first half and subsequently banned by the disciplinary committe for a couple of matches - which implies Ganson missed the severity of that also.
I agree swings and roundabouts within the confines of the contest.
Exceeding the salary cap however .........
