Kirke was great in his first couple of years but how the he'll he got a deal after last year is anybody's guess

I can see why tbf. Cross is a penalty machine and Hauraki is a defensive liability but I'd still pick either ahead of Kirke.

Also I'm guessing that shows us where Cross is in McD's mind. 6th choice prop currently. Still, it wasn't his signing so I'm not too bothered. How long is he on the cap for again?

He's here for at least 2 years, but has already said he wants to stay longer.

Slightly changing the subject a little, I understand Chev Walker is OoC at the end of this season, would anyone be interested in bringing him back to Leeds? He's proved he's over his injury now and would be a useful addition for the Centre as Keith has got to go at the end of this season. Would give us 4 main centre options (Smith, Watkins, Delaney and Walker) and with Smith and Delaney able to play in other positions, he would get plenty of game time.

He would also count as home grown too I guess.

Not sure tbh on re signing walker? I can see your point from text above. If we don't want to spend too much money then would be a option but still not sure it's the way to go.

I think IF Wilson continues to improve and BjB nails down the FB berth then i don't think Walker is a signing we should be making.
Of course if he comes into great form and the deal is right it won't hurt having him back in terms of competition for places etc.

Question is, will Wilson be ready in time to be a replacement centre for next year? You would have to say no, unless he explodes onto the first team soon.

The Walker point was that he is a known entity and would be available. Assuming Senior is going to retire at the end of this season, we probably need some more experience in the centres as Smith has only had 1 season there and Watkins hasn't even had that. Of course I expect to see Delaney in the pack next year, but he could cover if required.

I don't expect a big overseas centre signing, so that leaves us with someone in SL already, and is there anyone else who would be a better fit than Chev?

Fair points BR but IF Bjb is no1 that imo makes Smithy and Hardaker our RW/RC partnership with the back up of Delaney/Ablett and the possibillity of Wilson coming through.
IF we were to sign Chev where would he feature other than to cover because imo the above should be priority form and injuries permitting and that's without considering a new arrival aswell.
Also to add if Jimmy Watson continues his form in the u20's he'll be close to covering the FB role if Bjb is injured.

Can't say I'm surprised about Hauraki, he's averaged almost 4 missed tackles a game this season, he's a defensive liability!

Kirke had a solid game on Thursday. it was his run and second effort leg drive that gave us the position for Mcshanes try.

Hauraki and cross are up there with the worst signings in the super league era.

A really good call from McD if true especially as squad rotation is crucial at this time of year. I can see potential for both players. Hauraki made a couple of breaks against Bulls and Cross has been running stronger lately. But both are a bit of a liability at times, this is what they both need.

Indeed, both have put their hands up for selection through this difficult period and maybe they have not lived up to the hype yet but give them a bit of time eh? There have been plenty of established players who have been gash also.

Neither player has done anything to make you moist but they are no way the worst signings.

yes certainly n the last 10-11 years there are up there with the Mark o Neil's David Barnhills. think we have loaned out better players with more potential this year.
