| 8 clean breaks from the opposition is quite a few for a single game. I don't think the Bulls have managed that for the season as a whole yet!

Its been a big effort from JJB for the last few weeks. Bailey stats seem to back up what I watched had a good game.

| Bailey, great individual performance again. Hearty metres, work horse.
What about the hit on Mason - BOSH! Great milked grass shaging for a penalty too.
Form prop of Super League again?

| Bailey was very good. It was fun watching him follow Mason around, certainly goes against the grain of the 'third man in' routine of fans of other clubs. Here's hoping he can continue this form and good behaviour. Next week will be a big test for him and the rest of our forwards.

| JJB will run his blood to water for the cause!
On another note, did Hauraki pick up an injury? 17 minutes is very few considering we were getting battered in the forwards. One thing I will say about him is he isgetting caught out in defence. I thought this was even more obvious when he moved into prop. Not watched it back so may be wrong but that was the feeling at the game.

| I am honestly a bit of a newbie to all these opta stats, I understand why jjb had a good game with the tackles etc. but can someone explain why Bailey's stats are getting praised so much? Looks v similar to other props in the game.

| Thanks tvoc for the extra stat info – I appreciate it is yet more work but the reason I have been calling for the very useful interchange stats is it allows for a more balanced judgement on each’s performance with regard work rate /effort. Of course it doesn’t register the creative side of the game and but it can throw a different light on our initial impressions.
eg: Cross made 31 tackles in 38 minutes ie: 1 tackle every 1.22 minutes and a carry every 4.75 mins. If you add in missed tackles, this works out that he was physically involved every 57 secs.
JJB made a tackle every 1.89 mins and a carry every 1.89 mins so worts and all was involved every one minute and 28 secs But as this was for a longer period he should score extra marks
Buderus made a tackle every 2.14 mins a carry every 6 mins plus I guess getting up for most of the PTB’s and giving the distribution passes. If you said he was up for say half the PTBs then his active involvement would be every 26 secs!!!
Bailey made a tackle every 2.16 mins and a carry every 3.6 mins so he was involved every one minute and 19 secs
Kirke was involved every one minute 20 secs.
All these are very good IMO and these players deserve the credit.
Meanwhile if you look at Pitts - his effort was the pitts working only every 2 mins 50 secs.
Seniors stupid gaff gave them the all important momentum. However if you look at the interchange times with the introduction of Hauraki (for Bailey) and Pitts (for Ablett) and McShane ( for Buderus) IMO this was where we lost the game as it was about the time our defence fell about and is backed up by these bench players poor stats.
There are several posting that are calling for the coaches head because they are blaming a new attacking style of play. I really think that this is a wrong assessment of the situation. The problem is defence and not our attack.
Senior’s pass cannot be blamed on the coach. At the moment everything that Senior is doing is going wrong which has to do with a lack of form and a loss of pace and confidence and is not the coaches fault.
Other players too are letting the coach and themselves down. We are averaging 24 missed tackles per game and many of these have been one on one and have led to opposition tries. These are player errors and not tactical or coaching errors and this is costing us defeats.
With the limited number of players at his disposal because of injuries the coach has not had the luxury of dropping senior players and has had no choice but to keep playing a few who are out of form/fitness.
Last week against Wigan our defense was very sound for the first 65 minutes including the opening period when they threw the kitchen sink at us. We defended several back to backs on our line and then hit them with fast attacking play.
There was nothing wrong with our attacking style or defensive strategy. It was a slackening off when they were down to 12 men and allowing them to gain the vital momentum plus some shoddy defensive work that again is not the coaches fault.
Despite all this we have won one more game that at this time last year under Bluey and are only 5 points behind the leaders and have won as many games as the current Champions and this when we have key players still out and not firing on all cylinders yet.
So be patient, try and be positive and get off the coaches back.

Agreed, just what the game is about IMO. As is mentioned, RB did alright for someone that only bothers with third man in tackles etc etc.
Will we see a difference in the defence when Sinfield is back through the middle rather than on the fringes as he is now? Not saying it will be the end to all our problems but it's something small that may make a difference.
Someone mentioned the change in momentum when Bailey went off, I think there's something in that too. We seem far more solid with him on the field. Let's hope he keeps his current form and workrate up!
