| I am surprised Leeds had as many carries as that, as they seemed to have a lot less of the ball.
Bailey's stats back up what has been said, You don't notice what he does. Those are excellent stats for how long he was on the pitch. Infact I would wager you could count on one hand the amount of times he has equalled those overall stats in the last 2 seasons.
McShane has seriously improved his defence in the off season, really looking a proper quality player now.

| The Pitts stats don't shower him in glory, but he had some great involvement in some of Leeds' best free flowing moves. Some high end pieces of handling skill.
At the game, I asked the question 'has Macca missed any tackles?' The answer is 'no' - great effort.

| Hopefully the defensive improvement will continue against the 3rd worst attack in the competition on Friday.
IMO Leeds need to make a decision on where and how they want Pitts to play and make it quickly. If he's going to be a front rower, he needs to fill out a little more. If he's going to be a second rower, then he needs some speed and agility work.
At the moment he's a bit between the two IMO.

| I didn't see the game but I like the way the work rate has been shared between thos forwards from the statistics. Nobody got near to a 4 carry game, for sure.
Those statistics look very impressive for Broughton TVOC. Very impressive.

| Im liking the look of Burgess this year so I thought Id do a quick comparison between him and Sam in his last year in the SL to see how they compare...
Metres/game:
Luke - 103
Sam - 117
Carrie/game:
Luke - 15
Sam - 16
Metres/carry:
Luke - 6.9
Sam - 7.1
Tackle busts/game:
Luke - 0.7
Sam - 2.5
Tackles/Game:
Luke - 20
Sam - 24
Missed Tackles/game:
Luke - 1.3
Sam - 2.6
Offloads/Game:
Luke - 1.5
Sam - 1.3
Errors/Game:
Luke - 0.16
Sam - 1.0
Penalties/game:
Luke - 0.7
Sam - 0.7
They are looking pretty similar tbf apart from tackle busts. Granted Lukes a couple of years older than Sam but Sam made his debut a couple of years before Luke too. He's turning into a good prop for the club this season and you dont need stats to see that. It does look good when comparing him to his superstar brother though.

Especially considering he hasn't, AFAIK, played a game since September.

I said to Buca II the other day I wonder if he's playing for a new contract here or fancies a go down under with George and Sam.

| Personally I think he'd jump at the oportunity to play at Souths. Only problem is they do have a good set of forwards there. If the other clubs catch on that theres a 24 year old Burgess whos not too bad either out there then I could see them taking him on.

| Thanks for the stats, tvoc and Harrigan. The stats show a good performance from all the pack, except Pitts who, as noted by someone earlier, was involved in some good attacking play for some tries, though. Interesting stats re. Burgesses. Illustrates what seems obvious - how much Luke has stepped up this year. I'd say our best forward so far in 2011 who will hopefully be re-signed for next year and beyond. Also, pretty good stats for Amor - especially with ball in hand.

| Luke has been excellent. Sadly, I fear he wants to be in Australia, even if that means playing for a lower league club. I think the chances of retaining him are slim.

| The massive amounts of errors and penalties conceded as well as the tackles made shows how poorly Leeds played
Wakefield offered nothing in attack, even when we were down a man they played five drives through the middle and a kick, any other team and we would have been crushed
the attacking structure just wasnt there, players running into each other, taking a tackle instead of passing to an open man and even though we only concede one try the defender (Brent Webb) ran away from the man who scored instead of towards him and there was too much soft and lazy tackling
running in a few late tries against a tired defence didnt even paper over the cracks for me, we played better against saints and this was a step back - if the majority of those who came back for this game are out long term injured again you would have to question them playing
enjoyed seeing McShane play, he has always struck me as a talent since a game at Hull KR (even though I think he ended up in the sinbin), it is certainly better having Watkins on the wing so he doesnt have to pass very often and I hope we dont see 2 inexperienced and tiny players paired in the threequarters again

One could be forgiven for assuming the erroneously-gifted McGuire played instead on the basis of stats like that.

A bit harsh Hopie imo.
Once we got the passing to stick and the fluency right we scored some decent tries and as has been mentioned before defence is as much about attitude as it is effort and thought we showed both.
Wakey did move the ball about a fair bit and it was hardly 1 man up the middle then a kick to test us at least not when they pinned us in our half.
Don't get me wrong it was far from great either and we need to be improving 100% to be considered contenders again but i don't think we took a step back either.

Agreed. I think that he wants to go to australia to play. Unless he wants to stay with one of the twins who stayed at Bradford?
