Just a heads-up. The DVLA are not always sending out car-tax renewal notices any more, which is what I always used as just that-a reminder to get it sorted. They caught me out in 2009 and i've just noticed my sons' ran out two months ago and he too got nothing in the post! (I noticed whilst washing his car for him............................in the good old days isn't that a task that kids used to do for their parents, not the other way round?)

Its only my car when it needs £20 to tax it and £30 once a month to fill the petrol tank - and if it breaks down of course.

I collect my new car on Tuesday and I ain't got a clue how much it will cost to tax it . Will be first time I have ever had a brand new Japanese car . Things ain't gone too good with it so far . It is about two months late . Still , thats better that the 18 month wait for the Zafira .

The tax depends on engine size/emissions so if, for example, it's 1.0 ltr with very low emissions it won't cost you owt, whereas if it's a 5.0 litre V8 it'll cost a packet!

) It is a Nissan NV200 . Only a tiny (1.5) diesel engine . I do know it is red and it will be outside my house next Tuesday . The trip to the dealership was fun . I had them lifting the bonnet and explaining to me what everything does . Asked them loadsa questions which they struggled to answer . But they did their best , and never once lost sight of their aim to get me behind the wheel of one of their cars . I was impressed with their answers to questions such as 'What's that?' Your tax allowance should be ok though with it being a commercial vehicle ( assuming they still look kindly on commercial vehicles ), when I handed my company car back last April I was instantly £500 a month better off

Had a test drive in a Leon Ecomotive a while ago, its a bit cheap inside after driving a Ford but there's a hell of a lot of torque in the diesel engine, would easily accelerate off a roundabout in third, its still on the list of possibilities for me.

You know that big circular disc that you pop on the screen, passenger side, you know that thing will all those weird numbers, I use that as a reminder.

My car in Spain isn't Taxed or MOT'd. I took it over fully TAX & MOT'd but just never got round to renewing it, then I wasn't sure how/where you'd even go about getting it done over there (and every time I go I fall very quickly into the "Mañana" way of life thus never can be bothered trying to find out), and here we are 4/5 years later, not heard anything yet.

the c-max isn't to big so the wife will drive it, there's loads of room for the grandsons pram and it's easier getting him in and out of his baby seat than in a car
