| Good concept take all the games to Cardiff on the opening weekend !!
However all the positives fail when Mr Cummins is unable to get all the referee's officiating in the same way and using the same interpretation.
If you were an outside watching the different games you would think there were different rules.
Mr Child should be demoted without further discussion 37 penalties and three sin bins totally out of concept of the game.
Mr Ganson EXTREMELY questionable early tackle from Brett Delaney and its a sin bin, didnt even appear to be a penalty
Chev Walker definatleyh pulls down attacker about to score no other defender in sight, definate penalty try but no sin bin, explain the logic of that.
Mr Cummins must go or we will never improve our image !!

| Wigan/Saints, Leeds/Bradford and the Hull derby were reffed the best. This was helped though due to the discipline around the play the ball in each game.
James Child did blow for everything at the ruck but in fairness there was a lot more to blow for. Cas and Wakefield were both shocking for holding on and putting their hands all over the ball. The refs have been told to clamp down on this, especially when the tackler is not dominant and the ball carrier has the upper hand. Just happens, in my view, that Leeds, Bradford, Wigan, Saints and the Hull teams were far better at coping with a quick PTB and didn't need or try to hold on as much.

| I have to say there were some odd calls from Ganson today. Delaney gets a sin binning for a totally innocuous late "barge" into a player yet Burrow nearly has his head taken off and nothing. Also Sibbet twice in the space of seconds has to be questioned about the same offence and nothing. Also we started timing the ruck and bradford were constantly getting a few seconds more

Did you take into account whether the tackler was dominant or not? The players are given longer this case so cannot be compared to PTBs when the player in possession has the better position on the ground.

| To be fair, and I say this as a referee myself, I thought the officials did a pretty good job this weekend. There's always going to be more penalties in the first few weeks as players struggle to grasp the new interpretations. The RFL have visited all clubs over the winter and have explained the new interpretations. You can't blame the referees for then enforcing these.
James Child gave 37 penalties on Saturday. Most people see this as a bad thing, and to some extent I agree it's bad for the spectacle. However, no one can accuse Child of being inconsistent as he pinged both sides in the 79th minute for the same things he did in the 1st. The way I see it, if he's still blowing his whistle after the the first 10 minutes then it's the players who are to blame - they knew the score and continued to push their luck in the ruck.
To those who say this will be the death of RL, in fact it will prove to be it's saving grace. The RFL are determined to speed the PTB up and there's no going back.
I suspect that the teams who adapt quicker will prosper, and after this weekend's showing I can't look past Wigan and Saints.

If the attacking team get 'their noses through the line' (you'll have heard Eddie & Stevo saying this over the weekend, they were briefed about the ruling in advance), the referee shall call MOVE before the tackle number and the tacklers must remove themselves from the ruck immediately, thereby rewarding the attacking team for 'winning the collision' (another soundbite overused this weekend).
Any other tackle, besides the Dominant and Surrender tackles already in place, is considered a neutral ruck and the tackle number will be called, followed by MOVE.

| All i want/hope for is the same offences getting penalised for both teams within the same match and imo it's hasn't happened in the past and as yet it's still very questionable imo and i have to ask what does other than get a few jollies to France every year Cummings contribute?
I see yer point Kirkstaller and very well put but every one Childs blew for you could pick another 1 he did'nt and that's where we need consistency.

I think the opposite is actually true. I think you shouldn't sin bin an offending player for a penalty try as the offense is the nullified

Disagree with you on this.
If you award a penalty try - it's got to be for an offence that will, in the view of the ref (or VR in this case), undoubtedly stop the opposition from scoring.
As such, it's a professional foul and should be dealt with via 10 mins in the cooler.

| Agree. It's like saying a defender in footballer who gives away a penalty when he is the last man shouldn't be sent off because the penalty has been given.

No its not. Its like someone handling on the goal line, but it still going in.
Its just something I have heard, that you can't be sin binned if you give a penalty try. Maybe one of our resident (practicing) refs can help us out

Agreed and the same goes for Ah Vans high shot on Burrow. Burrow made the break, Ah Van hit him high, Ganson gives a penalty so it must be a sin bin its a clear professional foul.
But don't mention theses 2 cases to any Dulls fans because they we're squeaky clean and the nasty Rhinos cheated.

There was no way in this world that =#FF0000any team in =#FF0000any hemisphere could have played the rules that James Child was playing to on Saturday.
He was a first class idiot. His interpretation of the rules nobody could play to. He was pinning players who had just made the tackle. I would guess at least half of those penalties he gave on Saturday would not have been given by =#FF0000any other ref that weekend.
The way Silverwood reffed the game was a million miles ahead of any other ref this weekend.

| As neither a Bulls or Rhinos fan I find it quite amusing to read your board and their board regarding Ganson. On their board they think Ganson had a leeds shirt on and on here you think he should have had a bulls shirt on
As an impartial viewer I found it strange that a penalty try was given. Surely the penalty try is given where it is clear a try would have been scored. Whilst it is possible that he would have scored, it is by no means certain, as other bulls players were close enough to either kick the ball out or dive on the ball.
If a penalty try is given by a possible try then a penalty try should have been given to the bulls earlier on when Delaney took Royston out when a clear try scoring opportunity presented itself????
I thought that Ganson was his usual inconsistant self and seemed to favour the bulls for a short period then favour the rhinos for a while, hence why the difference in opinons on each site.
Fair play to Leeds however, as they could have easily been dead and burried when 18 points behind.

The nearest Bulls player was Ah Van and he was'nt within 15m of the ball BjB was clear favourite to regather his kick and lets not forget he'd already "burned" Raynor and Kearney earlier for his 1st try who are their fastest 2 players.
The wide shot from behind play highlighted it perfectly.
As for Delaney they were other players clearly around Royston plus he did'nt get the ball anyway hence the doubt and no way a penalty try.
