No longer the Carnegie then.
Reading through that link I would suggest it would be yet another nail in the Wakefield super league coffin. Castleford have obviously got themselves a top sponsor, and he cleverly is foging links with the RFL, with development promises.
When it comes to franchise decision time, I would guess he wouldn't be someone the RFL would want to lose?

Yet another? How many more nails can the Wakey coffin accommodate?

I think it's firmly nailed down and shut. Any further nails are just cosmetic.

| If I were a Cas supporter though I would be wondering if throwing money at the WCC rather than helping them build a new ground is actually a good thing for them!

I would think that PROBIZ throwing money at the WCC is nothing to do with our stadium as they're not doing that.

Isn't that the point I just made?
I also think on refection that the WCC is going to cost Probiz £50k in prize money and maybe the same again in sponsorship, so £100k is not much towards GH build costs... but still, better in Cas's pocket than the RFL's!

To be fair I don't understand what that has to with anything with regards new grounds.
The fact is that Castleford have uncovered a top sponsor who are key to them, and that same sponsor is now looking to develop further links with the RFL agreeing to sponsor a premier competition. With that, the owner of Probitz is talking about developing the game further in other countries, something that also appeals to the RFL.
Again with that in mind I was just guessing, but probably will have a major bearing, that the RFL would want to keep sweet this particular sponsor, and with his close ties to Castleford that would be another tick box in Castlefords pro's column when comparing to Wakefield.

Totally agree with all you have said but just that if I was a Cas fan I would rather have the £100k than Probiz give it to the RFL (for the WCC). I don't question the reasons and nature of Probiz decision at all.

It would be nice to have the money in our bank account.

I am sure they would, and fair point.
However, I am also sure that £100k in the bank would mean very little if they lost their super league licence for three years. If by doing this sponsorship, as I suggested above, it was the icing on the cake to give them that, then they will earn far more in the long run.

That point is also a good one.

The same sort of development promises both Pearman and Richardson made at Wakefield which have failed to come to fruition?

Were they not land developments?
If so then no. The development promises this guy is making are development of the game rather than land and buildings.

| Gillette sponsored the WCC last year. So it's a couple of years now since Carnegie did.

Not land developments but promises of cash injections into the club resulting from the sale or income from some land that Pearman owned near the M62.
As far as I recall, no such cash materialised.
All allegedly, of course.

I think Pearman's involvement and deception is well documented, but when it comes to Ted then things are a little different, this report says he stuck £500k in the pot and I understand that much more money has come from Ted over the years. Ted was affluent, but not rich, and never claimed to be anything other than he was and has been, a fan with a few bob. When he got into difficulty in his own business for what I understand to be very unfortunate reasons during the recession, then that made things very hard for him and the club.

That's as maybe but the club & Mr Richardson have been guilty of repeating the same errors as before by relying on future uncertain income to pay off existing debts.
