| Proud of the performance tonight, we gave it everything but came up short. But they fought until the end to defend the crown and that's all you can ask.
I thought the teams were evenly matched but ultimatly wigans outstanding defence and leeds inability to drop on loose balls was the difference.
Fair play to wigan. Bouncing back after losing the first playoff game in this format is a good effort.
We did miss mcguire and peacock, but I still thought we were a decent match for wigan, i thought the scoreline was a bit harsh on us but thems the breaks.
Look at the positives.
Start of next season, we won't have the WCC to deal with. We won't have the tag of champions. Teams have really got up to play us in recent seasons. Oh, and saints don't have the opportunity to get ne back on us either. We still have that over them.
I really think saints will do it next week and it'll be a fitting way for Cunningham to bow out.

| When you think of the run we have had with injuries and fixtures it was a top effort to get this far. We pushed Wigan all the way tonight and the 20 point margin flatters them. No shame in going out at this stage

Hard luck. It may well have been different had Danny McGuire played. Our defence was outstanding tonight, and the score certainly reflect your side's performance.
I agree that Saints will probably be too much for us next week. I think it's a year to early for us to be honest, but I'll enjoy myself at OT next week anyway whatever!

| 10 mins either side of half time cost us the game. Fair play to the Pies for getting themselves up for this game after our last encounter, and their defence was outstanding.
Great effort by the team, despite the season long injuries, and I applaud every one of them!

More so the 10 mins after halftime. If we'd kept it to 8-6 we [imay[/i have been able to sneak over the line and pinch the game. Certainly having a cushion allowed wigan to be very tenacious and decisive in defence without having the nerves of only a narrow lead.
ifs and ands though, wigan deserved and it was indeed their time.

| The second try in the second half killed us and it was called by Mr Silverwood, he gave Bentham the VR no option to look at a knock on as he said it went backwards when he clearly dropped the ball and then it bounced forward, even the muppets in the Sky studio wearing their cherry & white colours called it as a knock on. Such decisions turn matches, at 14 points down it was too big a gap to claw back without the inspiration of Maguire.
I'd be interested to look at the stats of Mr Silverwood for when he's reffed us this year.
WCC versus the Aussie salary cap cheats..lost
Huddersfield away after WCC..lost
Challenge cup final...lost

| Not quite good enough tonight but jeez did they give it a go!!
I do think Leeds signing average Aussie imports (Delaney - do me a favour), at the expense of blooding and sticking with some youngsters has bit them a bit.

I really don't think you can blame the ref in any way. We may have had a couple of fortunate decisions but I thought Leeds got away with more (reefing the ball out in particular). I don't blame the ref for that though, it's always difficult for them to see.
It was our defence - and possibly your lack of Danny McGuire to test it more - that won it for us. And as [iyou [/isay, the "inspiration of M[ua[/uguire", our coach!

Correct. No issue at all with the referee as regards decisions against Leeds.
Why the South Stand feel the need to chant the referee's a w****** at the correct decision beggars belief.

I guess the same reason why the South Stand at Wigan do, and at every other club

Presumably they are for you when your side lose. For me, the 161 tries scored, with our wingers the two top try scorers in the competition, has made watching them quite an exciting year.
That really was quite a silly comment from you.

You reckon? Stick around there'll be loads more where that came from.
Like this one earlier -

The video referee was Ben Thaler wasn't it and either way the ball from McIlorum went backwards from the hand. No knock on just more urgency from Carmont.

| It was indeed a legitimate score, however scrappy. I've been hounded for suggesting Wigans tries were flukey but their 'pass it & hope for the best' approach can't really be described in any other way - although I reckon the ball was dropped in this particular case . Credit their guys for backing up but give me a well worked try any day of the week.

| Well done to the lads. Put the effort in, but it just wasn't our day.
I think it's going to require a lot more from Wigan to beat Saints though.

I would prefer to see well worked tries as well, but you take what you can get in a big match like that. Against a quality team like Leeds we were never going to run rings around you. We did that against Hull KR last week.
It was actually quite a close match, we just took the chances and held out in defence, and that was the difference. The score didn't tell the story
