Is there a limit to the height of the kicking tees that can be used in rugby league?
I seem to recall some discussion/ruling on this some years ago when it seemed that circumsised traffic cones were being used.
I only ask because the one Pat Richards in particular uses seems to enable him to achieve terrific height &, therefore, hang time. Or it just maybe his superb technique & skill.
If there is a limit to the height who examines &/or certifies that those being used comply with the regulations?

It was mentioned/implemented a few seasons ago Iirc mate.

I thought that there was a regulation height of 10cm or I could just be making that up.

Use heavy leather balls and only be allowed to dig your heel into the turf to stand the ball up - then see how good the "kickers" are - you appreciate just how good the likes of Bev Risman and John Holmes were

It should be no higher than the referee's cards. Never seen one been checked though.

10 cm from floor to tip is correct.

4 inches was mentioned a season or two ago . I can't recall who it was that sparked the arguments , but somebody was using a tee almost as tall as Burrow ( about 5 " )

I used to do the dig the heel in thing . Showing my age now ain't I .

On that basis Pat Richards must only be 1.5m tall.

John Woods used to make one stamp with his heel, stick the ball in that and then with virtually no effort kick a goal from 50 meters. Meninga and his sandcastle sculpture took so long you could make a trip to the bar and the bog and miss none of the game.

True, he was also the 1st player i saw kicking at goal with the ball set up horizontally on his sand mound.

It is 10 cm (which of course is near as dammit 4 inch) and the ref's cards are 10 cm/4 inch tall, enabling them to check it is so required.

I wonder what the Bulls would give to have John Woods back again at Odsal (perhaps even at his age), a natural footballer. The goal-kicking point is well made but Woods was a one-off in that department.
