Top tackler - Kevin Sinfield 39 with 2 missed.
Error count moderately poor again (much worse than the opposition... again), missed tackles a particular concern - hitting a season high and double that of the last game (and Tom Briscoe touched down four times without Lee Smith missing a tackle?) and a home loss on the penalty count.

| I think to miss a tackle you have to be within 10 yards of the player. Leaving a gap that a bus could drive through probably isn't counted as a missed tackle.

| McGuire's defence is becoming a major issue and whilst I haven't seen the video back I am sure having him defend inside Smith may well have been the root cause for many of Briscoe's tries.

Maybe we should swap Hall and Smith around?
McGuire has to defend somewhere which will always be a problem.
I use the term defend loosely and I really like McGuire as a player but his defence is what always lets him down.

It seemed to improve last year but this year he's a real problem and he's certainly going to see a LOT of traffic this Saturday.

| I thought Manu and Dowes were the only forwards from Hull that held their own yesterday.
I've also been unduly harsh on McGuire after my video session, more to follow on a separate thread.

| Top effort from Sinfield, top tackler and only forward to make over 100m, great stuff.
Diskin's 10 carries for 20m is dire.

What role do you think he was playing?
Did you watch the game or are your observations purely based upon the statistics?

What Gareth is getting at is If hooker A played the right ball from dummy half resulting in x number of tries but only made 20 m in the game, that is better than hooker B running 54m but running nowhere useful and not setting up a try. And he is quite correct generally.
On this occassion though, I am still firmly of the opinion that Buderus had a good game and Diskin had a not so good game.
Once again interesting, that last week Bailey "alledgedly" had a better game than Burgess because Bailey had started the match with the inital impact of the game, where Burgess had the luxury of playing when Catalans where "alledgedly" tired.
Yet this week Buderus plays that first period, giving Diskin the ultimate advantage of coming on at a time Leeds are on a role and against a tired and retreating defence. Yet what's the view? you guessed it.

Thank's for reminding me, I forgot all about that.
Actually looking at those stats, O'Meley was not as dominant as I thought. It is still better than all the Leeds props and Hull's, but for Burgess.
Didn't someone say last week that you can't take the stats at full face value and look at other things in the game. On that basis O'Meley was streets ahead IMO .

| The error count is still clearly a problem and we are making some basic errors that we must stamp out however, I also thought that once we got out in front we did try one or two things that really did not come off, but I was at last pleased to see us trying to be creative and put Hull to the sword. That said, last year those half-chances did come off because we were playing with confidence, this year of course we don't yet appear to have the same confidence.
In respect of missed tackles I know Delaney's is high but of course we also know he was ill, but the forward error count in ratios to tackles made (with the exception of Kevin) is poor. Need to get better!
Also, as I have said on G1's thread, Smith didn't miss any tackles but he was left have to make the decision to either stay with his winger or come in and help his centre (or player covering centre). While he may have read them poorly and should have stayed out with his winger is open to debate and opinion, but my point is, why was he always being left by the whole defensive line to make the decision time after time? Our sliding defence was poor and the missed tackles in the middle were leaving us short at the edges when it mattered IMO!

RE-Smithty the 2 Briscoe tries in the 2nd half were a case of numbers imo stay out and they'd of scored or come in and try to stop the move and they scored.
I do think it was a whole "right side" defensive issue but i'm sure they'll improve.

Im suprised O'Meley managed to get mpc of 7.00 tbh. But Kylie's mpc of 8.57 reflects his dominance when he was on the field imo.

I thought Bailey was poor Gareth. Not just in attack but defence also. I don't know what you and the other posters currying flavour are seeing.
You know I have defended him previously, and I think up to the Catalans game he was our most consistent forward.
But the last two games he's been nothing. His play with ball in hand is pish poor, but that I can live with due to his defensive game that he brings to the team. The last two games though he's shown non of that defence. Against Hull he was poor IMO.
Especially against Hull you could hear many fans getting on Bailey's back because of the play with ball in hand. His pathetic attempt on the Hull try line midway in the second half was most highlighting to me. 2 yards out running at pace and still he got put down further back than he got the ball. I was looking right down on that spot, and I would bet my mortgage that Kylie, Peacock, or Burgess (had he kept hold of the ball) would have gone straight over that try line.
Bailey was far from dominating O'Meley, who had a very good game IMO.

| It was Kylie that dominated O'Meley. Bailey had a good game and fronted up well. Same old Bailey with ball in hand. He has never been someone how will charge over the line, you just get solid graft with him nothing more, nothing lessand I dont see why expectations should of changed on Sunday.
O'Meley looked average. Kylie knocked 7 bells out of him and was O'Meley interested in giving some back? Was he fook. So much for the big hard man that was 'going to go looking for the Leeds forwards'.
