| If Scott Naylor can’t get a job then that just confirms that I’m terminally unemployed. I’m considering printing that article so I can finally convince my new deal advisor that I’m unemployable and therefore should be pensioned off. Not that I want to be but I’m a waste of job centre resources.
On another note I blame competition for the unemployment problem.
Locally Jamie Hanley (standing for Pudsey) recently sent round a propaganda piece which was all about why Labour is better than the Tories. He didn’t have a good word to say about the other parties.
All that’s coming from Jamie Hanley is that if he doesn’t get in Pudsey will go downhill. The feeling I get from this bloke is he'd leave me to starve in the street if I didn't vote for him.
I feel an urge to complain actually.
Jamie Hanley

| If you think this lot are bad just wait till you've experienced the other mob.
When I lived in Pudsey (which I did for 28 years) it was always - to my recollection at least - a Tory held seat with Giles Shaw as the MP. The irony is I moved away the month before the general election of '97, cast my ballot by post and for the first time that I could remember the guy I put a cross next to actually won, only I now live in rural Lincolnshire and there will never, ever, ever, ever, ever be anything other than a Tory MP no matter how many moats he gets cleaned at the public's expense.

| From the linked article
Quote So how could such a highly decorated player find himself without a steady job or source of income? The answer is simple: he isn't qualified for anything other than rugby and had spent the last 22 years honing his skills in the one field he was an expert in - rugby league.'"
The answer is simpler than that - its the big daft lads syndrome again and its a fair bet that the player in question would have been in the same situation at 16 years of age had he not signed for a RL club, fact is that being a professional sportsperson is being a commodity, you can be bought and sold without reference to yourself (well not until the last minute anyway) and when they don't want you any more you go away, simple fact, end of story, they are not gods to be worshipped they are the lads who were good at sports at your school, you did something with your life, they picked a short term option.
Carrying bricks around on a building site isn't a lifetime career choice, the job description "labourer" doesn't come with any sort of job security - we may scoff at Schofield from time to time but he still has a trade at his fingertips that he has since fallen back on, something that never crossed Scott Naylor's mind.
There should be no excuse for any 16 year old to find themselves sitting at home staring at four walls these days and even the likes of Damo still have opportunities for training cast into their paths, if they refuse to take them or refuse to stick them out because of some self indignation then please don't moan about it later on in your life - you had the chance.

Paul Truswell?
I have nothing but good words for the bloke. Hr has bough improvement to this area however I’m still unemployed. Heck we even have a big job centre in Pudsey that just goes to prove that unemployment is rife in this area.
He’s done more good for the area than bad starting with major improvements to local schools.
Quote ="McLaren_Field"There should be no excuse for any 16 year old to find themselves sitting at home staring at four walls these days and even the likes of Damo still have opportunities for training cast into their paths, if they refuse to take them or refuse to stick them out because of some self indignation then please don't moan about it later on in your life - you had the chance.'"
Where do I start?
First of all the money to help the long term unemployed is falling into all the wrong hands. It should be job centre staff and restart officers applying for those jobs that the long term unemployed can’t obtain. The money that pays the wages of job centre staff and anyone who is employed as a result of the system that has been created to help the long term unemployed should be used to actually GIVE work to the terminally unemployed.
Instead its been given to people who’d be more than capable finding other jobs than the ones their currently in. Yet their choose the easy life and gravy train that is job centre plus/BestLTD/A4E wages.
Secondly the opportunities available for me are dead end ones. Hence why I’m in a dead end situation terminally unemployed. This whole green jobs fund Gordon Brown has created is nothing but an initiative to get the terminally unemployed to sit in a field for six months so their not burning fuels at home by watching Jeremy Kyle on TV and chatting on the internet all day.
Really what use is sitting a field all day for six months just to save the planet?
Finally as long as the terminal unemployed are alive they’ll complain. Give them a job and the complaining soon stops.

I can’t even get a job never mind getting to be an MP. We live in a society that’s obsessed by past experience and I have little to show in that department. I’m more about creating experience rather than living off of it like most candidates will be doing.

| The problem is - as I see it - work is out there; just that working might actually impact on Damo's social life.
Damo priority isn't finding any job, he wants a particular job - one which he simply isn't qualified for or simply doesn't exist.
A reality check is required; as a tax payer paying towards unemployment - people like Damo p1ss me off. Why am I working to pay taxes to supporting him; why - because he cannot get off his backside and take any kind of employment - being unemployed should be a last resort not a lifestyle choice.
Damo get off your backside and take any job offered not matter what.

| Back on topic (I could care less about Damo's self pity and "Look at me" post).
It is a bit sad that legends in our game face this life but I have to agree with McLaren Field. It should come as no surprise to them that they will likely not have a living from rugby after 35 years old.

Just remind me again, you had a job didn't you ?
A trial at Asda that you walked out of because you didn't think any further into the future than the six week trial and got into a tantrum because you were on JSA instead of an hourly rate ?
Have you ever stopped and wondered what you'd be doing now if you hadn't stomped your foot and walked out of the trial ? Even on minimum wage you'd be doing a easy job and earning £200 a week and for a lad who lives at home with no outgoings thats £200 a week more than I get.
You had a chance, you blew it out.

I’ve done the bottom of the bottom before so don’t give me that nonsense that things are beneath me. Ok I made the mistake of leaving that job for the stupid reason that I was missing England. But I shouldn’t be punished for the rest of my life for making the wrong choice.
It seems like that I am been punished for making such a choice now though.
Quote ="Serge A. Storms"The problem is - as I see it - work is out there; just that working might actually impact on Damo's social life.'"
That may have been a case last year but isn’t now thanks to not having a season ticket to honour and the novelty of clubbing drying up a bit. I dropped my season ticket this season because I felt that not attending most games would improve my employment chances when in reality nothing has change.
Last game I attended was one against the Bulls. Last night out I had was Friday night I think. Apart from that nigh I haven’t been out for a few weeks.

I don’t need to wonder as I’ve had my wonderings about what I’d be doing now if I would of stuck at ASDA. Back on the dole like the other bloke who stuck it out (unlike me). Heck he didn’t even get offered permanent when he finished ten weeks.
That must be because either the standards dropped when I left or ASDA just simply wasn’t interested. The latter probably the truth because many staff at ASDA said to me it’s the cleanest they’ve ever seen the warehouse driveway since they’ve worked at ASDA.
And I was right. Its was nothing but a dead end and false hope.
It doesn’t take ten weeks to be found out whenever you’re a good worker or not. But it takes ten weeks to see whenever your foolish enough to work on poor wages for a company that profits millions world wide.

That says infinitely more about the low levels of ability, achievement and ambition you possess than about society in general.

That's the point isn't it - being on the dole is a career choice for you, you are not desperate to find work - end of, you would rather sponge off the rest of us. If I were you I would keep a very low profile until you sort your working arrangements out.

I have the ability to do many things other than gain employment. I’m ambitious and I’m sure in time my ambitions will come to fruition. I’ve achieved some noteworthy things in my life.

Everything you say about me in that quote is a myth. I for one don’t believe that I’m a celebrity of any kind. In fact I’m just the online version of a pub clown.
The job centre was a last resort for me and unfortunately I’ve been at that last resort for a long time now and there’s no end in sight.

well put! There are many people with real issues who still overcome adversity to make something of themselves and have so much to be proud of. Can't do with people like this tool with every excuse, lazy waste of space.
