Prescott: 100 - 12 (8.33) - 17 - 1 (94%) - 0 - 0
Try Assist - Jones-Buchanan for the Hall try (No Clarkson deft touch)
Top tacklers - Take your pick between Buderus and Diskin and/or Bailey and Burgess. For Wigan Fielden's figures will take some beating.
Much improved handling error stat this week from Leeds and shared the penalty count under Mr Ganson's control. Would have shaded it for the second week running but for the final minute.

| Top efforts from Bailey and Burgess there! Shame they don't seem to do the same workload when Leului (sp) and Peacock are playing.

| It has to be said that our discipline in general this season (with the exception of the Wakefield game) is much improved and as tvoc says, the error count is also very good and just short of half of that for the Hull KR game.
To be fair to Fielden, his stats present a better game for him than I thought he had on the night! Those 5 errors (and mostly soft ones as well) made him look much worse than the stats clearly show, he was.

| Just as I thought from the game, Burgess was the best forward. I was in agreement with people saying Bailey was terrific, but my own opinion was that Burgess just edged it. Also that Hall was poor in defense.
Those missed tackles are unbelievable though, considering sky had us down as only 1 missed tackle in the 1st half. Obviously ran out of steam.

| Great work by Bailey and Burgess. Amor stats are shocking, 3 carries and 6 tackles. I know we are very short on numbers but that seems a bit of a wasted sub, no wonder the lads ran out of gas.

| Burgess seems to have been your best player based on those. Again Bailey's defense is impressive but his penalty count mean he's unlikely to have contributed anything in attack as his 100 metres will have been largely eaten up by the penalties he coughed up.
Prescott and O'Carroll have the best stats. Big effort and big metres per carry too.

I think 2 of those were in the last minute though, when they had no bearing on the result.

'" My only issue with Burgess, and there is no stat to quantify this, is how slow and lazy he is at marker defence. He concedes a bucketful of yards and puts the rest of the team under massive pressure by spending an eternity on the floor after he has completed the tackle (Kirke is another culprit).
He does have great go forward but the above is a massive negative impact.

Looking at your first sentence your judging just on stats.
Would the context of the actual game count for anything?
How do you judge things that the stats don't account for?
i.e. forcing errors / winning penalties / coming up with a big play etc.
I bet you have a rather blank, vacant, look on your face right now that says 'eh?'

Not at all. I base the comments on the stats, on the stats. I didn't watch the game.
The intangible aspects that stats cannot pick up are obviously more important. Stats are useful for comparisons and analysing key performance indicators. Hence my commenting on the stats and not the match thread.

.'" With respect, without actually watching the game the stats are completely meaningless. They're a decent accompaniment to assess performance but nothing more.
As has been stated above, 2 of Bailey's penalties came in the dying minutes when the game was over and they had no bearing on the outcome. In no way do they detract from his performance. yet there they sit on the stats sheet.

So your not basing your comments on much then are you.
My comments are made on the basis of the full facts i.e. watching the game.
Otherwise I keep my trap shut (most of the time) because how could I be foolish enough to go to battle with one bullet surrounded by enemies???
Food for thought.

I know this isn't the point your addressing here =#FF0000but the other penalty Ryan Bailey conceded (on the first tackle after the Joel Tomkins try) gifted Wigan the cheap field position that they scored their final try from four tackles later. At 16-4 Leeds had to score next to stay in the game. Sixty seconds later it was effectively game over.
Conceding tries off of penalties are coach killers.

Precisely, which is why referees must arbitrate on what they see & not on reputation which we do see from time to time.
Hence, the constant moan from all fans to treat both teams the same.
I also wonder how many penalties are conceded on the 5th tackle, that must be the real coach killer.

You mean like Messrs Ganson and Senior?
Apparently players chasing back for kicks now have to get out of the way of chasers, running back in a straight line is a penalty offence.
