Its a well recognised fact that the easiest way to get yourself on radio news bulletins is to state the opposite point of view to that which other pundits are offering, and more importantly to be the only one who is doing so.

As our example in this module of "How To Get Yourself On The Radio" we will be looking at Garry Schofield, one-time Rugby League player, one time brickie, one time pub landlord, full time opinionator and master of the art of "Getting Yourself On The Radio".

A perfect example of the art of "getting Yourself On The Radio" was demonstrated on the morning of Friday 9th October when Mr Schofield tipped Saints to win the Grand Final of the following day.

Mr Schofields opinion may well have been that indeed Saints would win the Grand Final but the important point for students to note here is that Mr Schofield was being interviewed by Radio Leeds and in a very astute move he quickly realised that Radio Leeds would also be interviewing lots of people from Leeds during their vox-pop and of course none of them would be tipping St Helens, the obvious choice of the man on the street who wishes to "Get Yourself On The Radio" would be to pick the one that no-one else is tipping, which he did with great success.

Mr Schofield was broadcast on Radio Leeds at every half hour sports bulletin throughout the day - a successful example of "How To Get Yourself On The Radio"
