an interesting note in that article is that wasps have no problem with Smith playing for England.

From the Wasps club point of view that is unbelievable if true.

Is this a one tournament commitment? Does he not expect to be playing some rugby union anytime soon?

I saw an interview a couple of weeks ago after the HKR match IIRC and the rhinos player being interviewed(webby i think) was on about smithy playing centre and he said don't be surprised to see him back in RL sooner than anyone thinks.
At the time i just thought it strange but maybe this has been brewing behind the scenes!
Back on topic i've held high hopes for the likes of atkins and shenton this year expecting them both to kick on and claim the england centre berth that keith left especially as we were strongly linked with both.
I don't think either has lived up to their potential and although atkins misses out through injury Keith is still clearly the best english centre out there.

From England's point of view there isn't a better centre available than Senior. From Leeds point of view he could do with a full off season.

Lee Smith has made his bed and should go lie in it.

Maybe part of the deal was that if selected, he could play for England.



The fact that he aint joining until November, at least frees him up to play for England should he get selected.
