I've been in that position where you feel your team is invincible before, but I was wondering how supremely confident you all are really, when there aren't trolling points to be gained.

I appreciate I've only been back on the board a short time but I really can't see anywhere where anyone has suggested that Leeds retaining the title is a given.

What I would say is that we are right to be confident in our team's abilities and we have a good chance of retaining the title. 110% is a complete impossibility though...

As an aside I believe you're referring to the fact we "smashed" Saints all over the park rather than smashed them in terms of scoreline.

Leeds could lose on Friday never mind in the play offs.

I think it is confidence in the quality when playing to the best of our abilities.

We have put ourselves in the best position possible to make history.

If we do not at least get to OT then fans have the right to be disappointed.

To sum this up,we beat stains on friday in a classic,but we aren't unbeatable by a long chalk as has been made glaringly obvious on a few occasions this season.

I don't think any of our supporters are deluded enough to just expect us to turn up on friday and claim the 2 points

On the flip side though,I seem to remember what happened last season when stains thumped us at KR and we all know what the result of the over confidence of there supporters did.

come on fella!! we arnt saints fans ala 07/08 we know you need to be at your best when it matters the most or you lose!! End of!! do I think we can win it?? yes as most Leeds fans do!! But the win is never a given!! When I was in oz for the world cup the media had the nerve to say after the semi they should just give the trophy to oz there and then!! You could smell the shock coming from the kiwis but the Aussies where so big headed they were blind to it!! Just like saints in 07/08!

In all honesty I felt the game last week could just have easily have gone your way. So whilst I am confident I wold hesitate to be arrogant and assume we just have to turn up.

I think at our best we're the best team in the comp by some margin.

But to win the GF we will need to be near are best and not get refereed out of the game.

Any posters intimating such thoughts are generally just trolling the Saints fan visiting the board.

We can win it. We should win it. But it still has to be earned. If we don't go out and earn it, we won't win it. Huddersfield's defeat in the CC just shows that a better side will lose if they don't do their jobs properly.

I think we've earned the right to be confident but saying that those of us who've supported Leeds pre-2004 know full well how you can promise so much and deliver f#ck all!!
I've said before that other than leeds the only team i'd never write off is saints and as i posted friday night showed imo that these are still the best 2 teams in the comp!
There are threats from HKR,Giants and possibly wigan but if the top 2 maintain their play-off form it's between them 3 times in a row and given the last 2 yrs i'd back us again.

It only takes a slightly off performance from Leeds for this lot to be on the players back again. Mark my words.

Last season there were very few people in RL who didn't write Leeds off in the GF. The arrogance from Saints was astounding.

I got very good odds on Leeds and won £125.00 on the Leeds win. That's because I'm not a knee jerker who balances the whole rest of the season on the last game or a couple of injuries. Writing Leeds off because Lee Smith is at full back instead of Brent Webb is exceedingly disrespectful and some supporters they are. He embarrassed those people did Smithy.

But, to answer your question, nothing is cut and dried and Leeds could very possibly lose the GF, if we get there. That will be very embarrassing for a few people on here and will also trigger vitriol against the Leeds team again.

Could we lose on Friday, lets think Salford nothing to play for ,but nothing to lose throw the ball about with abandon and it comes off? they have good players Ratchford looking to make name for himself, Leeds uptight feeling they have to win, overconfident , YES we can lose on Friday the same goes for any game, as someone said if you supported Leeds before 2004 (our miracle year) you know only to well how it can go rapidly down the toilet.

Why would leeds fans not be confident? They just beat the second placed team, finishing top (probably), look OK on the injury front and will have suspended players back for play-offs.

I didn't hear anyone say they couldn't be beat.

Leeds have won grand finals against the 'favourites' so i'd imagine they'll be less inclined to be complacement.

I think you are exaggerating a bit here, I've not read anything like that, quite the opposite in fact.

I was more confident of winning the GF last year than I am this year.

I think the fact everybody had written us off last year motivated the players greatly, you could see it in the line speed, to keep those energy levels up as we did must have have been partly fuelled by anger and having been written off by almost everybody in the game.

My doubts this year are mainly due to the overall size and power of the Saints team against ours, i just think we are a little to light in the forward and down one of our centre / wing partnerships.

I think we are probably slightly more skillfull, faster etc but more powerful? i don't. If we get to the GF again and play Saints, our kicking game will have to be spot on once again (as it was in 04, 07 & 0icon_cool.gif.

I'm not saying we can't get to the GF and win it, I'm just saying that Saints will still have a major say in the outcome.

Out team has the talent and ability to win the GF.....but so have any of the others in the mix. Even Bradford should they get past Hull this weekend. After the season they've had, it's amazing how the sniff of something can transform an entire team.

No disrespect to the other 6, but I pretty sure that both Saints and Leeds would be viewed as favourites, but nothing is a given in RL, and that's what makes our game so good.

So, the short answer is yes, I'm confident that we have an outstanding chance of lifting the Trophy, but would only be arrogant about it on the Saints board, where your Mods are getting very twitchy!
