I bumped into him in Townsville earlier this week and spent a bit of time talking to him. It was clear that he still has a soft spot for you guys and Yorkshire in general (my accent obviously stood out). I remember him playing Fax and being a tough bugger to put down in a tackle.

He looks to have kept himself in good condition and could probably still hold up well for 80 mins. From what I could gather is working as a scout for the Roosters now and living on the Gold Coast. Always good to know Aussies who played in Yorkshire still have a soft spot for Gods Country!

everytime i saw him in town he was always in the corner chilling with some cardio bunnies.

Barrie actually went for a clear the air beer with Mathiou when the club recently held their 10 year reunion for the side that won the 1999 CC final.

Barry said that they were now mates again and that there were no hard feelings between them

didn't morley once comment that you always get one ar$ehole in the team and jamie mathiou was leeds at the time. can't remember the interview where he said it possibly league express interview or something.

FFS - Morley had a go at Mathiou very tongue in cheek. He claimed Mathiou was the reason he went to the NRL.

Jeez the guy played for you for five years, he cant have been all that bad.

Also met Robbie Fowler on the flight back. Another guy with a Leeds connection (although brief) who had positive things to say about the city. Have to say though, he's still an ugly little scrote even if he did play for my fave footie team.
