talking to our academy hooker's father and he said that, none of the current academy lads have been offered contracts for next year but have been offered pay as you play deals of £20 a game coupled with £30 a win. they have even been asked to bring their mates down to "try" out and get paid match payments, i find it unbeleivable a club like our is doing this i know many of the "better" players are activly looking for other clubs.

Is that the u18's or the u16's????
Next year there will be a an u20's comp only IIRC.

I know of a few players that have recently had 'try outs' with the Rhinos, all poor players. It doesn't mean that it's the end of the current prestigious academy though.

Just have to wait for your next golden crop to come through I guess like all clubs do.

16s and 18s remain, but the "Academy" now becomes and under 20s competition. Don't know the ins and outs, but apparently it works out quite well for those currently at under 18s level.

The U18's is becoming a non-competive league playing 16 games in two 8 game blocks.

18's Acaedemy remains as is but as an uncompetitive competition (How can that be)? with no league tables published.

The reserve competition now become U20 with a max of three (3) overage players.

I don't really understand the U18 academy part. I know it's difficult at the moment as team a could have the majority of its side 18 year olds playing team b whose team could have the majority of its team 16 year olds.

I would have had a real competition in which the teams had to field
no more than six 16 year olds
no more than six 17 year olds
no more than six 18 year olds

funny that as carvill who has been offerd a contract for next year , scored a personell tally of 32 points against widnes on sunday the score leeds 64 widnes 32

Its not the end but either way this Academy has been for too long the bread basket for every other super league club and will probably continue to do so!
