With many transfers done despite the 1st sept deadline should we now scrap this as it doesn't stop any approach for players by "3rd" parties so what's the point in having it?

Tony Smith said as much in the press recently.
On the day that transfers are allowed to take place Warrington will announce the signing of Richard Myler on a 5 year deal - thats a cert, and I also am very sure they signed Ryan Atkins.

Myler is still contracted to Salford for the 2010 season. If Warrington want to sign him before 2011 they will have to make an official approach through his current employers first.

I think there is a difference between a club saying they want to keep a player and not agreeing terms with a player and telling them they can find a new club!

Yeah i agree mate the perfect example was scruton last year but my main point is there is this anti-tampering deadline which is the 1st of sept which is clearly being ignored by 3rd party approaches,so why have it when no-one adheres to it.

RhinosMS, you're right, the RFL should fine clubs who break the deadline and count the fine against the salary cap, that would stop clubs doing it!
