We knew that when he was a rookie of 18. But he's still our lovechild because we recognise all the skill and commitment he has brought to the game for 10 years now.

Watching his last second kick at the back of the southstand via Mobile sky was quality, tense moment, was shocked he missed from where he was.

On Sky extra Mick Potter said that Lomax would have been given that kick had he not already been taken off injured.
I couldn't understand why Gidley wasn't used since he's kicked before when Long's been injured. Unless it was to protect an injured leg. having said that from what I saw of the game Gidley did very little so maybe he was playing very injured only because of Saints injury crisis.

Yup. And to continue to select him when he was missing the conversions, especially given that young Lomax (at that point uninjured) who IS a kicker, was sitting on the bench twiddling this thumbs. Just two conversions would have won us the game. And by the time the penalty came along, Lomax had gone off injured so the chance was gone. Very poor decision making by our coach IMO.

Didnt you see the way he completely missed the ball and managed to flick it up with his heel into the welcoming arms of Atkins? What skill! Atkins would never have got down to pick that ball up without the forward thinking of Wellens and his excellent flick. This enabled Atkins to run the 80 odd yards and score near the posts despite hop along Gidley trying his best to catch him. The timing was spot on too! To quote John Kear "It was finger flicking good!"
