| Kyle Amor,Luke Ambler although they hav'nt come through the clubs academy system its great to see the club investing in English youth and not going down certain clubs path and getting overated Aussie/Kiwis in preferance in developing their own youth.

It's also gratifying to know that the club management agree with many of the posters on here who have been bemoaning the lack of forwards coming through the reserves.
www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk/r ... 5443163.jp
In this article towards the end it states:
"The club's management are concerned about the lack of young forwards in their reserve team who have the potential to step up to the top level.
Leeds have a crop of highly-rated pack men in their Academy grade, but they are at least two years away from being ready for senior action, so signings are being made to fill the gap.
Rhinos are also understood to be keen on Wakefield Trinity Wildcats' 19-year-old prop Jay Pitts, but Hetherington played down the prospects of a move for the England Academy forward."

| poor standard of reserve grade means this will likely be a regular thing, for leeds at least. Only the very best make the step up young while some players seem to peak a little bit later. You need good competitive rugby in your development curve to really blossom so I quite think its a good thing for the game. In the spirit of the sport I wouldn't object to leeds kicking money to lower league clubs in such cases

I think the new "dual registration" will help clubs and youngsters also.
They will be playing at a higher level than reserve grade affords them whilst gaining 1st team open age rugby.

| It's great we are doing this but i still think we will sign a more proved player/players for next season. According to some newspapers we have approached to sign some Aussies.

I tend to agree and i can't see eastwood coming even if his appeal is successful!
Already there's been talk about atkins, shenton, halatau and simmons so i'd expect the club still to be looking at least 1 or 2 to come into the top 20 squad.
Oh i forgot daryl millard at the doggies!

| Daryl Millard was another? One paper said we wanted him this year but as Idris got injured they needed to keep him for the season.

| These sort of deals also continue to speak volumes about the standard of the Academy as well - no matter what anyone says, these sort of loan deals were rare when there was an open age reserve team. Young forwards in particular used to get tested against gnarly old roughouse players - something far more likely to happen in NL than Academy. I well remember Brendan Hill being systematically bullied for a whole game by KRs Holdstock and Millington. Ah the ood old days...
