One of if not the greatest game of rugby I have ever seen Leeds take part in.

Had pretty much everything.

Interesting to see how few of those players are still at the clubs. I make it 5 of the Leeds team and only 2 of the Saints team one of which will be leaving at the end of the season.

How the flippin heck did Powell not play McGuire in the final?

It's a reasonable question but Powell's choice of Burrow may well have paid off had he not got knocked out tackling Lee Gilmour. From memory the same thing happened in last year's CC SF involving the same player.

Burrow's susceptibility to head injuries at the time was just another reason to have McGuire on the bench at the time, IMO. We tried to outmuscle that huge Bradford team, and came up just short. In the last 20 minutes, after Sinny had declined the 2, we were crying out for some footwork. The best bit of footwork we got was from Furner for his try, IIRC.

great game. I remember saying in the stands before the game what a good goal kicker Sinny has turned out to be lately. Then he goes and slots over that crucial one under pressure from the right touch line

They were competing for a spot on the bench - it was one or the other - and had Burrow not been injured I suspect we'd have won.

Watched it a couple of months back when we played saints in the semi. Made the hairs stand up on the back of my neck. Simply the greatest game I have been at.

You could be right, but IMO not selecting McGuire in some capacity was a huge mistake. Was my opinion at the time and still is now. Watching that game on the BBC there just highlighted for me what a game breaker McGuire was even back then.
