| Nice to see the club see the priority of re-signing an underperforming Australian, rather than put its efforts into resigning one of its most promising academy produced players..... no really.
And I expect the usual suspects who proclamin everything academy is best, to be behind this move as acceptable.

| Well that's that then.
Good news. If his off the boil form was down to being unsettled about his future, which I presumed it was (I don't buy the whole 'he can't play on the right' tripe), now they have reached a deal where he is happy, so over to you Scotty, play like you mean it.
Plenty of trys, back to back spots in the Dream Team in our back to back title glory, he has an impressive C.V. Now it's time for his '09 season to start.
Wingers are confidence players, they need to be scoring, and the amount Scotty's used to scoring at Leeds they will be classed as a very lean scoring spell. We have all seen his quality, he has the ability no question.
Hat trick for the ginger flanker on Saturday?

Keeping a settled squad has proved very effective for Leeds. I've pointed at his form, and it's a valid point. BUT to write him off like yourself seems foolish. Shouldn't we also review his contract to date and see what he has contributed, rather than his last dozen games? And if your judging soley on this seasons form, how many other Leeds players would you retain? Seeing as our off form is more down to us as a team, rather than individually. How many are playing to the same level as the last two seasons? Donald has the class factor and his form needs to improve, which it will. With him being offered a new contract, he is doing something right. Or we can get shot and hand pick from all the other premier wingers in this competition, that would take you about 14 seconds.

| Really good news. All we need now is a centre he can play off. Last seasons second highest try scorer when he played outside Keith to this season getting no ball at all afters Bluey's shake up. Is it any co-incidence Ryan Hall is amongst the highst scorers so far this season
We have one of the fastest wingers in the competition and aernt unsing him

I agree, just making it out as though they are keeping close to the fans, giving them important info, when really its a load of tripe. Strong rumours almost always come true in RL. Peacock to Leeds, Hape to Union, 'Volkano' to union, TS to Warrington. The list can go on. All around the Union forums it has been mentioned, as soon as GH would have heard this he would have had a word with Smithy, not let union promise the world to him giving him time to make his mind up, then going to speak to him.

| Disa you are way off the mark with this one. I would rather leeds sign up all the players they require instead of just focussing on one. Scotty has been a great servant for the club, and is playing out of position. I have felt that he looked unhappy this season, but obviously not.
A great, (and unexpected) signing.

Doesn't want to move away, would rather stay at Leeds just awaiting the offer that was promised after last years GF. Can't blame the lad for checking out all options before re-signing.

It can't help him to settle with the constant changing of centres inside him not allowing him to get any form of partnership like he had with Senior on the left.
Think Disa has a bit of a man crush on Lee Smith!

| Looked one of the best wingers in the competition outside Senior. Are we seeing the "real" Scott Donald in 2009?

I expected somebody else to comment.
But in reply. My comment is more about the priorities of the club than Donald.
I would rather throw all of Donalds salary into keeping Smith. It is far better value for money, and much better prospects for us.
If they keep both, then fair enough, I accept your comments, that would be a nice situation.

I think people need to make up their mind about Senior. The wingers who play outside of him do well, getting lots of tries. People write him off after a couple of bad games.
For me, Donald is a good winger, who has an excellent try scoring record. This is helped by playing outside one of the best centres in the competition.

| Great news and like some of mentioned unexpected!
Many have questioned scotty's form this year me included but the bigger picture can explain his recent form dip and for me i'm glad he's staying.
As for giving all his money to retain smithy you know full well that doesn't happen at leeds disa ,smithy will be offered what GH and the current wage structure at leeds say's he's worth,i do hope he stay's and it's a case of how much he want's to be at leeds now.

| Great news,
i'm glad Scottys staying not only cos he is a top quality winger but he can pass some expirience and knowledge down to help our younger wingers and aid their development.
