| One for all you budding stattos out there who (like me) occasionally like to use Opta to highlight a player's input/output
Easy mistake to make what with Burrow and Kirke looking like two peas in a pod.
How Lauitiiti missed out on a try assist for Hall's first is another mystery.

| 1-0 to Kirke in the 40/20's! Kirke's one kick in general play seems dubious too.

| This week three Leeds players have been given try assists out of the six tries scored.
McGuire for the kick on Donald's try
Burrow for the kick on Hall's second
and
Sinfield for either his pass for Leuluai or Burrow or Peacock as he supplied the final ball to all three.
But Lauitiiti zippo for Hall's first.
I guess Opta can explain WTF is going on but it beats me and you have to wonder whether the rest of what they produce is equally suspect. Bearing in mind that I'm only going off the online stuff [url=http://www.superleague.co.uk/statistics_club.php?hs1=2009&hp1=250&hs2=2009&hp2=7400&stat=tries&season=2009here[/url where Bradford are making less errors and missing less tackles that Leeds.

| I once enquired with Opta how much a full seasons stats would cost - £1500.
If I’d paid £1500 for stats like those in tvoc link I would have been more than disappointed.

I can see from my spreadsheet that the Kirke kick in general play occurred V Wigan and given that he left the field semi concussed inside the opening twenty it shouldn't be difficult to find.
Another one over to Opta.

Maybe they supply a £1500 version and what we get to see is the free version.
From here it appears their quality control dept could do with an overhaul.

| Scott Donald zero tackles with zero misses yet where was he when his opposite number (Ainscough) crossed unopposed?

In RL&LE this morning it said he made 0 and missed 1
I also noticed that Paul McShane had only made 1 try assist according to the website but I can remember 2 off the top of my head. Hull KR and Celtic.

Never mind that. What about the shocking attempt down the wing after that, where my 7 year old son would have had the strength to push Ainscough into touch?
If that was not a missed tackle, what is?

Quite so, he appeared to be setting off on his holidays. What good is a defensive stat if it doesn't recognise a player foul up that resulted in a try? Donald could do that every game and never miss a tackle according to Opta.
Quote ="Hollywood Harrigan"In RL&LE this morning it said he made 0 and missed 1'"
Was that a missed tackle or an error? He had one error according to the online version which I presume was the kick into touch on the first after Ian Smith had correctly restarted the tackle count.
Quote ="Hollywood Harrigan"I also noticed that Paul McShane had only made 1 try assist according to the website but I can remember 2 off the top of my head. Hull KR and Celtic.'"
I commented on that at the time on here. He was credited with the assist V Celtic to Hall but not with his assist to the same player at Hull KR. They were practically identical involvements from McShane with if anything the second V Hull KR being slightly more worthy but not according to Opta.
Leeds have scored 20 tries so far in SL with only 10 try assists yet only one of the twenty was scored from a run from dummy half (Lauitiiti V Wakefield.)
Six tries against Wigan, three with assists and three without. None were individual efforts so there's obviously an involvement more than a simple pass needed to qualify. Clearly highlighted by Sinfield providing the final pass for three tries and only receiving one try assist. But what about the Lauitiiti pass to Hall on Friday, nada in the try assist column for Ali so basically WTF does a try assist look like if that wasn't one?
But people still quote them as if they are the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

Lies, damn lies and statistics.
I think it's the Superleague stats that suggest that Andy Coley is ahead of Leuluai in almost every area of the game.
