| Out of curiousity, does anyone (TVOC?) know how many times Burrow has been knocked out in his Leeds career?
IIRC, he has been KO'd in the 2003 CCF, the 2008 CC SF? and the 2009 WCC. All big games which we have lost.
Not taking anything away from Rob - but perhaps Leeds should think about protecting him a bit more to avoid this kind of thing happening again. He seems to be particularly prone to it.
The pass he received was telegraphed by Watmough before the ball had even gone.

Perhaps the referees, who are also there to protect a player's welfare from foul play, did their jobs a bit more too ?

| Around 2003 and 2004 he picked up a large numbers of head injuries. He doesn't seem to as often now, so I think he must have adjusted his game slightly.

Last night could've been avoided if Peacock hadn't aided and abetted the Mainly forward with one of the worst hospital passes I've seen in a while. Perhaps a longer off-season could've taught Jamie how to pass eh?

I don't know - that's up to Leeds. Perhaps wearing a scrum cap would be wise - at least to minimise the effect of high shots?

He used to wear a scrum cap, and he used to get more head injureies when he wore it. Since he's ditched it, he's picked up fewer head injuries

I think the scrum cap is better than nothing and might cushion the impact with the ground. At one time they were a fairly common sight in the game. The danger is players getting lazy with their technique and putting their head in places it ought not to be.

| I'm not 100% convinced that it was a penalty for the tackle.
Seemed pretty fair to me, and should've been 'Play On'. Getting smashed to the ground is what happens with 'Hospital Passes'

Not in Rugby League it wasn't.
Watmough hit Burrow in the head, no ifs or buts about it. Straight on smash with his tricep. As Burrow had just reached up to take Peacock's shocking pass he was about as tall as he gets on a rugby field.
Robinson (unlike most Aussie refs) doesn't appear to ask the video ref for his input when such incidents occur. Given who the video ref was yesterday that could have been interesting.
Good to see Watmough find Burrow at the end of the game and apologise to him.

| He's been knocked out more times than Mr Giles from Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
Just out of interest, if the ref penalised the Manly player for a high shot (and it's not clear he did), then it would surely have been a card of some kind.
Personnaly I don't beleive there was much wrong (although aiming your swinging arm at where a normal sized person's chest is and using it as an excuse for hitting Burrow in the face is not really a defense).

Just like last week when this same referee put Westwood on report (5 matches) but no card, Mogg penalty but no card and Fakir not even a fooking penalty (1 match) let alone a card of some kind?
Like I said last week about Robinson, he's a typical Aussie Referee, anything below the temple is fair game.
But what I seriously don't get is whenever a player is injured in the NRL the referee's almost always uses the breathing space to ask the video referee to at least review what has caused the injury if there's a possibility of foul play.
If Robinson has done this in the last two weeks I must have missed it.
Hope we never see Jason ' Barry Manilow' Robinson again.

| I thought it was a fair shot - what was Whatmough supposed to do - he simply ran over Burrow - no swinging arm a hit not unlike a few SBW put on a couple of Leeds players.
The pass was simply appalling - summed up Peacock's contribution tbh ie more of a hinderance than a help last night.

A tackle around the head is still a tackle around the head regardless of the quality of the pass and should still result in an automatic penalty.

I sure the ref was getting help from upstairs later on in the game, he certainly had his finger in his ear a lot

That'll be to lesson the whining noises coming from the whinging poms, especially Ganson.

A bad pass does not technically give the defender the right to smash someone in the face, and because Burrow is smaller than most does not give the defender the right to smash him in the face. The angle from behind the tackler clearly shows him swinging his right arm - that's a "swinging arm" I believe.
I did think Burrow slipped a bit (but then you would try and duck if soemones coming to kock your head off), but how many times do you ever see a guy penalised for a high shot that knocks a player unconcious without him getting at least a yellow.
If you replace the Manly player with Adrian Morely and Robinson with Ganson and you're looking at a straight red.
I don't think there was much intent in the colission but I can't understand why the ref gave a penalty if the tackle was okay?

It wasn't - as some have asserted - for offside as it was given at the point where Burrow was felled rather than ten metres upfield from the play the ball...
