| Yes, I know all of the players salary's, and most of the staff including messrs Hetherington and Caddick, they're not on as much as you'd think actually, some of them are barely earning minimum wage hence the reason why Kevin Sinfield was on the picket line at the YP yesterday where he moonlights as a car park attendant.

| well the salary cap is 1.8m, and we have a squad of 25. You can assume that we have full cap being spent (although you could argue that Eastwood isn't here yet).
The mean salary will be 72k. There will be quite a range in salaries though, with internationals probably on over 100k, and acadamy lads around 20-30k.
You could speculate all you like, but this si my thoughts based on time at the club, international experience and when they last signed their contract.
Webb 150
Donald 90
Smith 50
Senior 100
Hall 30
McGuire 100
Burrow 100
Leuluai 70
Buderus 170
Peacock 140
Jones-Buchanan 70
Lauiti'iti 100
Sinfield 140
Diskin 80
Eastwood 90
Bailey 70
Kirke 40
Ablett 50
Burgess 25

Don't fall for the hype. It is very very unlikely that Buderus would be on more than Peacock or Sinfield - just look back on any of Hetherington's past comments on our pay structure.
FWIW I imagine Senior would also be in the top tier of the structure (long established international and senior club pro).

They were only approximations. I thout Senior was a bit low when I was doing it, and possibly buderus a bit high, but in reality only the people at Leeds actually know

| Am I right in thinking that after you have done your 10 Years at a club the RFL pay a proportion of the Wage?
Dunno why but I think ive been told at somepoint its the First 50k? This would mean more space under the cap from the 100k for both Senior and JJB?

Not quite right. The club still pay the full amount, but half of it does not count towards the salary cap, up to a maximum of £100k, or £50k discount. However that £100k/£50k discount is the total per club, rather than per player.
So, if JJB and Sinfield both earned £100k, a total of £200k, it would count as £150k on the salary cap, as we'd only get the discount on one of them.
Hope that makes sense.

I think its a good rule, but doesn't go far enough. Its this sort of innovation that should be used to promote a settled squad of presumably home-grown players.
50k offset is quite good, but why should club A who have 1 decent player for 10 years get the same benefit as a club who try to keep a team together of mainly homegrown stars.
Eg. Warrington could well have Briers getting a testamonial soon (don't know dates), but they have a very different way of running the club than the Rhinos & Saints

| Yeah makes sense mate. i thought the RFL paid the 1st fifty k of everyone who has had a 10year testimonial.
Its a shame really though IMO because if you look at Leeds they have Sinfield, JJB and Senior who Im sure have had their testimonials.
Other players who have been at Leeds for a long while, come throught the academy e.t.c are Maguire, Diskin, Burrow, Bailey
Thats Quite a big chunk of the squad who hopefully have a good few years left in them...
Compare this to say how many testimonial players have Wigan got in their Squad and how many "home grown stars" they have. And then think about who goes over the salary cap and who doesn't...
Either way I'm glad I'm a Leeds fan; not only because of the sucess but I feel what there doing with the academy and the loyalty shown in players (JJB being a prime example) is top notch. Interesting topic though...

Seniors testamonial in 2006 was an RFL one, and only lasted 3 months. I think he will have been playing for Leeds for 10 years at the end of this season, as he signed on the last day of SL regular rounds in 99. Don't know if he gets a second testamonial though

Well he should for his 10 years at Leeds (Sept 2009) and this time he would have earned it. Leeds gave Alan Smith a second Testimonial after he completed 20 years at the club.

Yo Vic.
I think Senior won't be on all that much. Had he signed a 1 off long term deal then maybe but my guess is the yearly extensions are parachute contracts lowering his wage gradually, thus allowing him to finish his career at the club. Probably linking back to around his testimonial. It would be unlikely we will be paying Senior 2009 anywhere as much as Senior 2004+.
Besides he earns more from ebay than Leeds. Everyone knows that!!
Sinfield or Webb will be top of the tower.
