| Was as the game, can't be overstated how hot it was tonight. 32 at the start of the game, 28 by the finish, wouldn't have wanted to play bowls in that weather let alone rugby, so thought it was a decent performance in some ways (by both sides) given that, and hopefully explains why several of our senior forwards (Ablett, Kylie and Clarkson as well as Kirke) were so unimpressive. Hardaker and Sutcliffe kept getting in each other's way in the line as set-plays were usually a second or a metre off key.
No agenda against Rob Burrow but he had one of his stinkers tonight. There's a difference between "looking lively" and being useful and he had one of those games where he tossed a coin between passing to the opposition and falling over his own feet. Three near-certain tries bombed in the first half, before heat fatigue set in and I stopped counting. If it's true that he got Sky's MoM then that's an amazing decision even for them (JP probably, although in some ways BJB was our most impressive player. Some class touches from Watkins who also did a load of tackling and Foster good off the bench at 100mph).

Thanks for confirming that a crap game of regular season SL containing zilch in the way of quality and intensity only happens because of the warm summer weather conditions, in the same way that a crap game of regular season SL containing zilch in the way of quality and intensity only happens because of the cold winter weather conditions.
For a moment there, I actually thought it had more to do with the utter meaninglessness of the fixture itself against a whipping boy SL rabble team where you literally only have to turn up to win.

| How on earth did Burrow get MOM
Totally agree he bombed 3 tries and kept running down a blind alley.
Thought Hardaker played reasonably well along with JP and Sinfield.
Other than that some pretty poor performances all round.
Sinfield is certainly no hooker. Either play him 6 or 13 and get McShane back at 9.
If McGuire is fit by the end of the season I would play him at 7 with Sutcliffe and Sinfield 6 and 13 maybe Burrow on the bench.

Fairly rubbish game. 2 points, job done, may as well move on IMO.

| Imagine Soward in a quality team, he was really energetic and inventive tonight.
On the temperature, i was there it was red hot, on the news they announced the hottest day of the year so far, the highest recorded temperature actually being at Heathrow which is just a couple of miles away 34.2°c. I felt tired and hot sat in the shade of the stand, i had the sweat pouring out of me and it was very uncomfortable, i couldn't imagine playing a game in it.

| Quote ="G1"Vehemently disagree. Regardless of Burrow, who has just carted off the fully deserved MOM despite a few errors, we need a proper hooker. Some classic dummy half play tonight from the lad brought back from Hunslet exile. Also, Sinfield controlled the ruck well.
Burrow at 7 gives us pace at half back, which nobody else does.'"
You are Stevo and I claim my £5.
I don't believe there will be anybody else who would seriously put Burrow anywhere close to MOM. He was poor, even having to be moved out of his starting role at half time.
He wasn't the worst, there was some truelly poor performances, though I accept the heat a deterring factor. For all the debate about McShane, in hindsight a lucky decision to recall him. Without him we might well have lost that last night.

| Result i kind of expected.Leeds on a hiding to nothing here really.if we win like Wigan did then its par for the course and if we dont we are shocking.London were always going to be up for a 100% effort after Saturdays shambles and couple that with our usual laclustre aproach to these kind of regular season games and the game last night is probably a fair reflection of that,It looked like we were playing a game of Touch and pass at times.
Lets hope Delaney recovers, looked a bad knock he took.

That reminds me, a classic moment late in the game when Eddie and Stevo were jabering on about something irrelevant to Rugby League as usual, Shaun mcRae butts in and says 'just if i can say something about this game for a minute.....if thats OK Eddie?'
you tell em' Shaun!

| I laughed on 75 minutes when Stevo proclaimed "Burrow has been everywhere tonight" knowing full well that what he meant and what it should have meant was completely different.
The subsequent MotM award was just baffling.

| I thought we made a pub team look competitive to be honest.
I accept it was hot and no doubts the Nags were gonna give it a dig after last week but our basic passing was slow ,predictable and inaccurate far too often.
Our D line speed was plodding and i thought we were pretty lucky they are as sh## as they are.
It was job done and i thought some of the lads had a reasonable dig and i would have given m.o.m to either JP or Bjb.

I don't think Burrow was as bad as some say but definitely not MOM, I thought Soward was more deserving.

| I took a couple of corporate whores to the game, Rugby Union stalwarts, they though the game was quicker than anything they'd seen - god their product must be bad.
Anyway, I thought it was pretty awful, if Burrow got MOM then the heat clearly got to Stevo - he was awful.
Soward was really good, showed a key difference in the England v Aussie game, Soward was light years ahead of anything currently playing in SL at 7, and he probably isn't in the top half dozen Aussie 7s.
Another point of note, Sutcliffe looked lost again, it may just be me but he just seems to drift through long periods of the game.
Sinfield, Peacock and Mcshane were very good, BJB, Watkins also worth a mention.

| I must admit to being neutral to the sky commentary team, but as of late Stevo and Eddie are plumbing new depths in veering off topic and prattling on about non rugby themes.
The answer is to put Brian Carney in charge ably assisted by big Barry and Tez ,unfortunately it would mean sky showing the door to Eddie and Stevo, possibly to a booking at the nearest comedy club venue.

Kylie said it was the toughest conditions he has ever played in so we cannot underestimate this effect on players from both sides and very humid which didn't help the handling. I though London's defence made it tough for us with the exception of when they opening the doors and twice waved in McShane for his tries.
Quite why you can claim no agenda yet say Burrow had "one of his stinkers" is a mystery. Yes he made a couple errors but these were more than offset by his positive contribution. His pinpoint kick helped make JP's try, his movement drew defenders, created space and got the line moving well for both BJB's and Fosters tries. In the heat he was buzzing about and constantly creating space and making breaks and was unlucky not to have scored a couple and his distribution (afore mentioned errors excepted) was good. Therefore his overall 80 minutes contribution to the victory deserved the MOM IMO.
JP was our best forward with his usual effort and Ablett, Clarkson and Kirke did some solid defending in the heat. BJB made a fine finish for his try and was even more impressive with his in..out classy wing play to create the Foster try.

Those blind alleys he kept running down led to scores from BJB and Foster and his accurate kick created JP's try. He was a constant threat, created space for others, made breaks, backed up and could easily have scored a couple himself. I know it was hot but did you forget to take off your aviators?
You thought Hardaker was "reasonable" yet his missed tackle let in Soward for one and his poor positional play was a factor in two other London tries. He also kept getting in the way of Sutcliffe.

| Steveo is getting predictable now, at the game i said Soward is mom but won't get it because LB lost, he'll give it to Burrow any money for a few scoots and running from one edge to the other like a crab, low and behold he does. Personally McShane for me, mom should be given to a game changer, he was certainly the difference on the pitch, it could have been a very nervous night without him.

Yes, Soward was the classiest player on the pitch, and Dorn was also very good. He's been terrible all year but apparently that was his last game for the Broncos as he's having an operation then going to Cas (a lobotomy, presumably).

Over the time of McDermott's tenure ... on the hooker position, the choice of players for half-back positions, the baffling substitutions and/or lack or non-use thereof, keeping Hardaker at centre even when it was clear the lad's winger skills were not suited to the role, Kirke being undroppable, ... there are many opinions I hold and have held where I disagree(d) with the GF-winning coach.
Granted, I'm not a coach and I never know the whole story, but then none of us do, including you, so your opinions are no more valuable or valueless as those of any of us.
As it is, your opinion seems to be that the coaches did it and won, therefore it was right.
A position which is, at best, naive .
I happen to think McD has been fortunate in having a squad that can make even weird choices work, up to a point.
