Siddal u16's won there national cup final today aswel, Our Ajahni Wallace and Coby Nichol played so congrats to them.

Really looking forward to next years national cups to see how this seasons Siddal, Kippax and Stanningley u15's and East Leeds U13's do against the Lancashire and Cumbrian teams.

Really wish the club did announcements on scholarship intakes like other clubs do, know who to look out for then. Yourself and a couple others on here do give great info though.

The Saddleworth centres have signed for Wigan and Warrington so the 3 isn't coming to us. Both very good players.

Weve 5 from Saddleworth, 2 from Lock Lane and 5 from Fev Lions definitely signed up that I know of.

The full back for the 16s Alfie Edghill is a sensational player and hes currently only 14 and playing against some kids who are 16 and hes doing brilliantly. Hes a real prospect.

Had seen about the 5 each from saddleworth and Fev Lions, didnt know about the 2 from Lock Lane, do you know who they are? Theyv got a couple of forwards that look really good, a prop and a lad who was number 20 against saddleworth i think.

Agreed on Edghill, fantastic player. Think our 15's have got some real talents

With respect to the other lads selected, there are definitely some Leeds lads who are good enough to be in. Oh well - extra motivation for them!

Butterill must be a genius to have us beating all these teams with apparently much more talent than us. Absolute Joke these England Youth squads..

A lot of the talented Leeds lads are a year below and will probably get selected next year. Let's not get our knickers in a twist over it.

Not in the big picture for us as fans or for the club Marty, although i was looking forward to seeing some of our lads in the games, but for the kids and there parents it will be important. Rightly or wrongly i just dont feel some clubs scholarship players get a fair crack of the whip under this current England youth set up.

Matt you're talking like these are professional players missing out because there is some agenda. Mate these are schoolboys, some might be on holiday with their family for example.

Leeds 16s have a game on Wed and a decision might have been made to not pick them so they dont play 2 games in a week. We really dont know.

These lads are trying to earn professional contracts to join an academy it's not like they belong to any team at the moment. They are scholarship schoolboys. Some of the Leeds kids might sign elsewhere, who knows? Pretty sure Wire will be sniffing around a few as they do annually. Gannon went there and I presume the Gannon who captains our 16s will be his brother.

Im really not talking anything like theyr professional Marty, international selection at this age is a reward for the players and there familys, regardless of how big or little it means long term, they should get that reward if theyv earned it. i dont think some clubs scholorship players get a fair crack of the whip, hence not getting the reward they deserve, you can call it an agenda, id call it favoriteism, if you dont agree thats fine, we dont need to.

Its not this year in isolation, its been this way over a period of time, last year our 16's hammered everyone when we played the full 16's side, Wigan and saints included. For the tour of france we had a measely 2 players, none of... J Burton, O Burton, I Stephens, H Anderson, L Delaney, R Rowley made the squad, what are the selectors looking at? Because in the games they played, they were running rings around opposition players who were making the national squad

Where the players ultimately sign isnt important imo, it should be about what theyr doing on the pitch now, if they end up signing for another team, good luck to them, i still want them getting there call ups if they deserve it.

I think the selection process at this particular age group is a joke, and has been for a while, you dont agree, thats fine, we can agree to disagree on this one.

I agree with you both Marty and Matt you both have valid points . My argument is though if we are not picking the elite kids then it shouldn’t be called England. I was told after the first test that Leeds relationship with the staff and selectors at scholarship level is poor and that
Reflects in selections. Leeds also have concerns about the quality of coaching the lads are getting whilst on these camps compared to their in house stuff . Don’t know how true it all is ? I just go by the games I watch and the poor standard of the 1st test . Leeds 16s have far superior players but someone somewhere knows better or has a clear agenda . I also watched the first test v France and having watched a lot of u16s this season I reckon you could pick another 17 squad that would probably beat that England team.

Infact I would go as far as say either Leeds or Castleford on their own would beat that England side that was selected.

Before Sinfield wades into any debate involving the wider game he needs to earn a little respect for his administrative abilities at club level IMO.

I respect your opinion but Sinfield is at the top of England/Great Britain coaching appointments,like it or not
