| Yeah I seem to recall comments about him being played at 1 when he's a 6 / blah blah.
As for age I think once they are over 18 if they are good enough, they are old enough..for backs at least. I know there will be different circumstances etc with each case but I don't think age being a reason for lack of games is a strong one.

Don't understand your reply about Hampshire... I know his Dad (Richard- scouts for Wigan on a part time basis). Ryan thinks he's a 6, Wane thinks he's a utility player. He'll be used for cover for Tomkins and Williams. We already have a utility player (Sutcliffe).
Fages looks good in a rubbish team. The new Danny Orr?
We don't need to go back to Lunt. Are you part of the brigade who wanted Harris and Ellis to come back just because they used to be good players for us?

Beware what you read on our board... many there have been critical of Wanes appointment from day one. They are the most vocal on there, and will batter anyone down who promotes a balanced view.
Hampshire played in the halves at under 19, and is clearly very talented. But, when is the right time to play him there in SL, dunno. He is certainly growing in confidence at Full back.

| What happened to all the Lunt love? People were practically staining their trousers over him when he was at Leeds. Then followed much abuse when we went for aiton instead. Why is he now not good enough? He showed last time he can do it. Also, most people thought aiton was a meh signing at the time but the coaches have got the best out of him and then some.

And now Cunningham on the Saints site. How many times have we heard the no plan B rubbish. I know it's cr@p but it still gets regurgitated fans of ALL clubs.

| None of them on this will come in. Brierley and Ballin, Brierley only if Leigh don't come up.

Correct he did, but this has been said many times and they've already signed two hookers for next season too. He'd be a stop gap for two or three years. Heard he's our man for the 9 shirt.

| No complaints from me if true. Will give R Ward .Year or two to see if he's ready or good enough for Leeds.
Not someone I know much about though, opinions on him ?

| He's OK but not a stand out. Probably similar to Aiton in many ways. The sort of player that would be good as a short-term filler. He also comes from a club with a win at all costs culture, which is a plus. The main downside would be if he's peed off with being forced out at Manly.
I personally think we have enough overseas players next year. I'd rather go for Lunt on that basis.

| We seem to have good luck over the last few years with signing players in that category who surpass expectations . Aiton, Cuthbertson and I think it's fair to say Garbutt didn't have much hype.
hopefully Ballin (if true) and Mullally will do as well.I am looking forward to seeing Galloway in our forward pack next season .

| Ballin looks like a good 9 to me and would be a decent replacement for Aiton for a couple of years imo, giving Ward some more time to mature.
I tend to agree we have enough overseas players now though so maybe a signing like this would spell the end for Achurch.

| I think S Ward has put an end to Achurch. When jjb/ Delany retire we need to sign A good player or two. Ablett is getting on too.
Retaining AChurch beyond his current deal would just hamper the cash we have to spend on a new signing .

How's about we play Achurch in his correct position, wide running 2nd row and not prop and then make a call. Hopefully with the influx of props this will happen next season. I genuinely believe he will be a totally different, and much more effective proposition in that position.

I just don't think he is good enough to replace JJB or Delaney

I agree with this. On the few occasions he has played out wide, he has looked pretty good. His endless injuries are a concern though......

He's not.
But when you consider how injury prone those 2 are, along with Ward, second row back up is required. Having said that Achurch is always on treatment table.
If Achurch was to move on, we wouldn't feel any impact.

His game is very different to Delaneys so hard to compare. Agree a fit and in form jjb was better but sadly those days have gone.
If better is available than we should upgrade. The question is what is available.
Personally I would still give Achurch a run in what looks his best position then decide.

| Achurch could be a handy player for back row.I have heard that many times over the past 3 years.unfortunately it just seems he can't stay fit for long enough to ever make his mark on the side.Garbutt is already threatening to have more of an impact at the club in barely a 3rd of a season as Achurch has in 3.
