You're surprised The Tetley's Challenge cup semi finals aren't being held at The John Smiths Stadium?

When it comes down to money I would doubt that JS would have a veto clause as stadium sponsors usually have very little say after they have paid up because its mainly about PR and advertsiing in fact it would be a bit of coup for JS.

It's not John Smiths that would object, it's Tetley's. I would imagine having paid a large amount of money to sponsor a competition they wouldn't want their main competitors name showing everywhere on national TV if they could avoid it.

So go on then sweet cheeks, let's discuss the lack of venues on West Yorkshire.

To be honest I imagine the football inexactly the reason its not being held there, but I would also imagine Tetleys would have wanted the RFL to find somewhere else anyway, having a game there that was un avoidable (i.e. not a semi final) is one thing but having a choice of venues is another, anyway its a totally pintoes debate anyway

Certainly Odsal 06 was Huddersfield v Leeds, so hardly going to be played in St Helens or Wigan.

The number of times playing this side of the pennines needs to be viewed with a fairer perspective.

The 2005 was against Toulouse so might as well have been in Yorkshire, would've been pointless going further afield.

Quite obvious if one Yorkshire side that one would be played on this side of the pennines. And if a tie was two Yorkshire sides against one another then definitely this side.

and in 93,94,2001,2002 we played all those semis against lancashire sides in wigan.

I have no qualms with it tbh, as has been pointed out we have had a decent run of semi's in yorkshire but do feel that one of the games should have been over this way for fairness and all that.

My statistical knowledge of things like that is basic, at best, so i couldn't say to be honest mate. I just don't think we can really complain about playing a semi in lancashire...but who really cares anyway?

Getting to St Helens by train is a bit of a mare at the moment because the line between Manchester and Liverpool, which comes through St Helens, is being electrified. I don't know how long the work is going on for but it's been causing problems locally now for months.

You could go back even further than that; didn't Leeds between 1966 and 2002 play Lancastrian opposition in the semi finals in Lancashire?It was only in 2002 when Leeds fans voiced disapproval that it changed for the following year.Or was that just a myth.No problem with the current venue so long as the RFL act in a fair manner in future years.Now I know that is a big ask!

Quite happy with going to saints. Hate hudds ground. Puts me off going its a nightmare getting to and from the ground. Saints ground will look a lot better on telly and for me has a better atmosphere than hudds ground. Especially near capacity

Better if the games are at RL grounds rather than rented football stadiums that way the money goes back into the game
