| I wouldn't be inclined to boo him or any other player/ex-player for that matter either but let's not forget here that a judge seemed to think he had an unfinished obligation to fulfil on his return to rugby league with Leeds and it was one he wilfully reneged on.

| I would love to see a Iestyn Harris of 98/99 form playing in our team of the last few years. It will be a long time before we see a better pair of hands at Leeds, Maybe Buderus might come close?.

Give over. none of us know the exact details. Give the guy some credit for being one of our best ever players - he had his time at Leeds and wanted to move on. Do you really think he would have got in the squad infront of Mcguire ?

One of the reasons he gave publically for not coming back to Leeds was that they had quality young players who could play no. 6 (McGuire & Sinfield).
If it was me I probably wouldn't have come back to the club, it was adifferent set of players, coach etc plus he knew he would find it difficult to establish himself as the first choice no. 6 once more.
I do not think for once second he was wanted back at Leeds from a playing perspective, I'd think Leeds' main gripe was missing out on a transfer fee (Leeds to Bradford)

I don't need to know the ins and outs of the case but equally as I quite clearly stated in the opinion of a judge in a court of law Harris had an obligation to the Leeds club that he wilfully reneged on.
As a Leeds fan I'm not inclined to overlook that fact even if others do.

And the difference in the size of contract Bradford put before him had no bearing on his decision I suppose?

This has cost the Bulls big time, so much so that it indirectly caused a breaking up of their 2005 GF winning squad, the fact that the Bulls club have deteriorated so rapidly since is proof that it was financial suicide by Caisley in offering Harris that deal.
Harris has also lost out financially, rumour has it that he has already spent in the region of £90,000 in legal fees and the case hasn't been concluded yet!

Good job he was rewarded with that bumper deal from the dulls then.

I agree and it effectively forced 'lawyer Chris' out of the game and it's a combination of the two that has led to the Bulls change of direction for the worse. IMO.
Bradford without Caisley aren't serious opposition for GH in the boardroom.

It's ironic though that leeds fans booed him for going to the bulls when that very move basically f*cked them up and had he come back here we'd have been f*cked. To put it simply.

How so?
Leeds had budgeted all along for Harris to return.
What happened to Bradford was borne out of Caisley's bitter feud with Hetherington and a classic piece of one-up-man-ship on his part backfiring spectacularly when Leeds bravely took them to court.

| Iestyn Harris was a fantastic player for Leeds and now he is no longer plying his trade in Super League he should be remembered for the good times that he brought to Headingley and not the whole Bradford Bulls affair...

| When he steps out onto the pitch he should be rightfully cheered/ clapped as the joker has mentioned above. What is done is done.

pfft where to begin
He'd have impacted on the stalwarts from the 04 team we were able to re-sign, it was well documented how we lost quite a few players after 04 due to the young guns gaining representative honours etc.
No matter what people would have said at the time, he wouldn't have been left out of the team, bench at the very least. He was big player, a leeds legend and would have been on decent money, so he would have been included in the team one way or another. This would have upset the balance of the team at that time, as we were coming into the run in.
Would tony smith have been happy? afterall it was already planned before smith came in that he was to return, so had he re-signed it's likely smith would have had little say. The coach should always have input into recruitment.
Then theres also the fact that....in fact...he just wasn't very good when he returned. Certainly not as good as the old pre union harris, no where near that. So we'd have been stuck with a below par player, on decent wages.
So we'd have had that disruption to deal with, while the bulls would have strolled merrily along. Their cap wouldn't have been f*cked up, they'd have retained many of their big guns and the team wouldn't have dismantled so rapidly. Raher than suddenly declining into medocirty after 05, they'd have continued to be a serious threat for silverware.
It's not just that. The signing of harris would have gone against the whole thing we were trying to build. Homegrown players in key positions, we already had the positions covered, we had no need for a highly paid stand off.
Had harris signed for leeds you would probably see a bit more bradford and a bit less leeds on recent sl titles.

| He was outstanding for leeds no doubt about it.
He deserve's a decent welcome especially now he's moved onto new thing's career wise.
The only thing i disliked about the whole bulls farce was the denial and lies.
If he'd of come clean with caisley over the whole deal then the reaction wouldn't of been half as bad imo.
