Leeds-Live in particular is absolutely awful. Poorly laid out, advert laden and not written well at all. Usually with a grabby clickbait title and no substance. Just rehashed from various other social media sources.

RL journalism is truly dire.

If you want to avoid clickbait - and who doesn't? - the answer is pretty simple: Get your hand in your pocket and buy a real newspaper or subscribe online. If you don't even pay peanuts you'll be lucky to get Monkeys. Agree with much of what has been said, but only fair to point out that Matt Shaw has broken nearly every Rhinos related story over the last couple of years. Will be interesting to see whether that continues. It could be that his source has moved on.

One example that comes straight to mind is Sezer. Was talking about that months before it happened. I certainly wouldn't lump him in with the dreaded ITK, or whatever it's called.

There are plenty of other examples. I'm just not wasting my Saturday finding them. He was certainly very well thought of at League Express and Martyn Sadler (editor) was gutted when he left. I was also disappointed to read the headline you refer to. Poor stuff. Just trying to point out that it's not all black and white and there is some grey area in this discussion.

The less said about the League Express and Sadler the better.

The sport is a small local game - why do we expect serious journalists to cover it?

Sadler's last tweet was about how Hull were missing Gale against St Helens!!

IMO Shaw is about as good as it gets closely followed by John Davidson.

Not necessarily the reporters fault. It’s indicative of modern culture and editors trying to hit revenue targets

I do agree with that, its either report click bait style or get another job.

Which is why institutions like the BBC are so important- but that’s a debate for another day i guess.

The top four headlines that appear if I go to Leeds live are one about myler, an interview with GH about Smith, a piece about our game with NZ and summat about Hardaker. Now it's likely that the latter three won't be the most rivetting reads but clicking on the first one simply to be outraged makes no sense at all.

It was worth it this time just to see the reporter was called Wayne Ankers. Whether anyone chooses to click on it or not it still needs challenging for the gutter tripe it is and for any lack of morals these people have.

One of the first articles I saw on Twitter after the Salford game was Shaw writing about Myler and his break up!

They are obsessed with the story.

Problem is it obviously gets clicks and reactions, just read some of the rubbish posted below the articles on Facebook.

Whilst no doubt it gave extra venom it's ridiculous for Shaw not to know - or pathetic reporting to exclude - that Salford fans have been booing Myler for years anyway. But that wouldn't have been as good a story.
