Dead right. Lenagan seems to be the driving force behind this breakaway. Of the three, his club is - by far - the weakest financially. Is it right that the game should be led in a way aimed to mitigate the sale of Wigan's ground all those years ago?
Grow the game? Don't make me laugh.

I would say what McManus is achieving in terms of the busines side, will equal that of GH in the long run. You can't tar them all with the same brush because of Wigan. McManus seems far more astute than others.

| That statement from Fev is absolutely bang on. Well considered and delivered.
Although I don't agree with the way GH has played this, I believe he is on the right side of it, in my opinion.

He is far from the right side of it. I can not understand how you have come to that conclusion? The others may well end up been wrong in how they have gone about it, but in the end it would appear are unified in changing something that simply does not work. The fact it does not work, in its self tells you that GH is not on the right side of it, if he continues to take that stance.
In any sport, the drivers of that sport are the the people at the top. Therefore that element of the game should always be the priority to deliver the sports future. From that the rest share from it.

| I read the statement to suggest that the way the announcement has been made is in question, along with the assertion/intimation that it is a done deal is entirely wrong as it involves a much wider pool of people than just the Super League clubs.
He seems to be challenging this and suggesting that the need is for a wider consultation, as, it seems, was already happening....all be it slowly.

It was most certainly wrong that these clubs have bullied the movement along by their actions. However, what GH and the lower clubs are complaining about is that they don't want it to happen. They may sit behind the smoke screen and spit dummy's out at the way it has been handled, but what they really want is nothing to change. In that sense they are wrong.

| Maybe we can have a split - the 11 in SL a closed shop and Leeds and all the championship clubs!!
The power in the game is now with Leneghan, McManus and Moran i.e. guys that are putting their own money where their mouth is as opposed the GH who has never put any of his money into Leeds.

That's because Hetherington, since the very start at Sheffield, has shown how to run successful and profitable Rugby League clubs - there has never been any need for him or his backers to fund anything other than initial capital - he just doesn't allow his clubs to run at a deficit.
Every other administrator in the league apart from maybe Catalans who have a wierd setup, have shown themselves totally incapable of balancing their books or seriously growing their businesses.
If the power is now with the failures and the one successful administrator is standing alone against them then I think we might have some issues.

| Obviously, funding the championships until the end of the current deal 2021, then? You’re on your own, f’off.
Disgusting and classless, everything you’d expect from the dark half.

| Anyway, that was much better tonight, play with that enthusiasm for the rest of the season we may be ok, despite the loss was a thoroughly enjoyable game.
One thing to add, I think the atmosphere will be immense once the stadium is complete

He is also fortunate enough to administer the biggest club with the biggest potential audience - Leeds as a city is 5/6 times the size of every other town in SL with the exception of Hull which has two teams in the same city.
The fact Wigan with a population of 100k can get crowds the size of Leeds suggests someone at that club is doing something right - both have a soccer club too.
It would be almost impossible for any other club in SL to generate the income Leeds do they simple don't have the potential customer/corporate audience.
Just because they aren't as big as Leeds doesn't mean they can't add some real value to the bigger picture. You can hardly say GH and cronies have done a great job attracting monies into the game. Something has to change or the game will return to semi-pro after the next TV deal.
Compare and contrast the growth in club RU to that of RL and ask yourself is GH and his puppet at the RFL really the right people to be driving the game forward?

SL is the element of the game in the UK that generates all the revenues. If the game is to prosper it will be driven by the elite competition. With the best will in the world how is giving more money to Batley/Featherstone/Workington rather than St Helens and Wigan going to drive the sport forward.
These championship clubs wine about SL yet a significant proportion of all their squads are made up of ex SL players who the clubs have invested in since they were 13. How much investment is Kevin at Batley making in youth development/training facilities/sport science etc. elements that drive the sport forward.

| Wow that Jamie Peacock statement doesn’t hold back in having a dig. Stating he is fully behind the changes and new man in charge. But the comment “The worst kind of self interest is when it’s hidden behind claims of thinking of others”, that is one slap at GH.

| Havnt followed the new proposals, and the reaction to them, closely enough to have a valid opinion either way. But can anyone explain which detail/details of the new proposal have got GH so flusterd? Id of thought, for the most part, what benefitted saints, wigan, and warrington would also benefit Leeds, with them all being at the top table of the british game.

He's strangely quiet on playing fewer games these days. Flog the players and f*** the smaller clubs seems to be his current style.

You must have seen different comments to others. He has continued to state we need less games, which of course means less income.
