We've had a few Leeds supporters on the Wigan message board telling us how good these Leeds "youngsters" are.

Meanwhile I have been asking you on here for years what was wrong with the Leeds academy systems, as they are not producing players anywhere near enough the quality that you have in the past.

Just to illustrate Wigan took a very young inexperienced team to Barrow yesterday and won.

Matthew Russell, Ryan King, Jamie Acton, Josh Charnley, Tom Halsall, Chris Tuson, Sam Powell, Dom Crosby, Logan Tomkins, Lee Mossop, Jonny Walker, Jack Hughes, Danny Bridge

Replacements
Matthew Crowe, Tom Spencer, Kieron Harrison, James Greenwood, Liam Carberry.

I'm not worried. I've seen 70% of those players have very good games. Every team has bad days. I remember the 2008 playoff vs Saints, Leeds got tonked and we're embarrasing...2 weeks later they smashed Saints and won the SL title.
I'd put it down to a bad day at the office, nothing more nothing less. It will be a kick up the backside. Maybe it will be good for the new coaching team to face a bit of adversity before the season starts.

Everyone is talking about the lack of depth....most of those players are way way down the pecking order..Leeds would have to have some very bad injury luck for most of those to be picked.

I'll refer you to what i posted earlier on the thread "what other teams do or don't do is IRRELLEVENT.
Also last year was the 1st time in 4yrs we've ended pot-less yet players like Mcshane ,Bjb and Watkins gained more SL experience.
The production line is fine ,it may not be churning out the numbers as in past years but we are still producing players for our 1st team.
Given how wonderfull your acadamy is i look forward to that being the Wigan team sheet v Leeds in 2013/14!

What Leeds did yesterday should be a concern for the Leeds coaching team, as I said on my previous post, but the Leeds coaching team only.

What you did at Barrow will mean jack poop to the Leeds coaching team or us for that matter.

Meh! Looked like a contractual obligation we had to fulfil to make their best player our 3rd choice full-back. Wouldn't lose any sleep over it!

Leeds may well have beaten barrow yesterday, fev might have beaten Wigan. Then the boards would be full of the same but on their board. It BS on a massive scale.

whilst all the emphesis seems to be on how 'weak' a team whinos put out, nothing mentioned of the fact that although fev started with a strong looking team, they also had a couple of youngsters and at least 5 new signings interchanging that have had very little game time together....even ya own website has stated a 'strong' leeds outfit......no doubt you will get over it but for the few of you that made it over to our 'cup final' will have seen that it could have been a cricket score if we didnt bomb a few.

That may or may not be, but as we are only preseason you or I have no way of stating that as fact now do we?

I'm not so sure, Barrow struggling financially plus the Schofield Effect. Fantastic for local licensed premises, not so good for team performances.

Just because were a SL outfit doesn't mean we have the right to be beating teams like yourself by 50-60 points.

At the end of the day it was a good run out, and at this early stage in the RL calendar that's all it's supposed to be.

You don't want to mention the over 30's do you. That's the one thing Leeds win this year hands down.

Hands down you say? At season end as you pointed out Leeds with it's failing academy have 9 players over 30. the pies despite all it's kids will have 7? 7 to 9? I would say there's nowt in it. Obviously it's important to produce kids through the academy but one that is alleged to be the best around isnt knocking out many more stars than one that is alleged to be failing?

So in the context of the topic "there's nowt in it" been a few apposed to hands down been plenty.

Now take saints they have only 5 players over 30 at season end, that's hands down. Wigan with all it's academy super stars still have 7 30+ blokes. Leeds with its alleged failing academy has 9 blokes over 30+ I perhaps should have said there's not a lot in it. Obviously I'm more Yorkshire than you and subbed nowt for not a lot.

And only 5 overseas players, compared to Leeds' and Wigan's 7 (8 for Wigan if you are talking players who wouldn't represent home nations, as Hansen plays for Samoa).

If only all sides were as altruistic as us.



Then again, Wigan/Leeds have 4 SL titles in a row and we have 4 GF defeats in a row

If you're going to count Hansen (which you shouldn't) then make it six for Saints and include Nathan Ashe.
