Although I'd rather have the Ghost of Bamford as head coach than McNamara, and possibly than Wane.

I dunno, Powell didn't do too bad. He lacked what it took to win us a major trophy but set things up nicely for Tony Smith to work his magic. Hardly in the same bracket as Furner.

Malcolm Clift (now 84) is available, I believe. But seriously, I like Agar. I didn't think I would, but I do. Maybe I've mellowed over the years. One thing I know for sure is that whatever the coach the number of top class players in key positions is the key factor in success. We are still not there, but we are getting closer. It would just be nice if they ran out on pitch occasionally.

I was coached by Bamford briefly, it was like being coached by Stephen Frys duke of Wellington in Blackadder the third, “shout shout more shouting and shout some more” I signed for another team.

Attended that game and the replay (30 odd thousand at Elland Road) too. So many dissapointments in big games in those days. Made 2004 and what followed all the sweeter.

I also like Agar he seems to have very good man management skills.Something i think McDermott lacked.A prime example of this is the recent interview with Handley where he says Brian told me it didnt matter how well i played as soon as Briscoe is fit you are out of the team.Why would a coach say that?
McDermott was very fortunate to have a fantastic group of players and for me ive always believed its players that win finals not coaches.It doesnt matter who the coach is if the players are not good enough.

Not me. Until we have two fit halves on the field we will struggle and we haven't seen that yet. Things will get better before long, the question is how much? I think it was you who said Agar didn't want to be coach next year. Heard anymore?

No. Can't imagine he'll want everyone to turn on him though. Would ruin things for him at the club, and he will want to go back to his previous role unless he retires..!

He doesn’t deserve everyone to turn on him IMO, he may well not be the right man to coach long term (id hazard a guess he actually doesn’t think that) but he took over the role when we were at one of our lowest points and steadied the ship and got the team playing with a lot of desire which was lacking, he’s delivered a trophy and had a really bad injury crisis to deal with at the start of this year.

People are turning nasty Christopher. On here is probably the milder end of the spectrum. Britain is now built on having a scapegoat for eveything.....

He wont be going back to his previous role and he wont be retiring from the game either.
