I think the answer is pretty much anyone. Our game is not exactly awash with cash, most clubs would look to release a player if the money on the table was enough. I’m not saying we could sign anyone because we are Leeds, but even in our current position the club would be a big drawcard.

We’ve left it too late to bring in an Aussie, so it would have to be someone over here already, I’d be going all out for Hastings, on a 2+ year deal allowing him to go with 6 months notice, as long as we get a a fee the same as we paid for him.

So we just settle for whats available?
Lui isn't as good as many are making out its part of the reason he's been at Salford so long & onky chased by KR another relegation threatenrd team until KS turned up with 65k hoping for some magic beans.
Whether he is better than poundland lolohea or average Sutcliffe is neither here nor there. At Salford he has a genuine 7 a HB General which is what we need not the off the cuff try whatever springs up past his best 6.
Also they have a settled squad with a good solid game plan they're all used to we dont.

Lui is an average 6 imo his last 3yrs playing record backs that up in that he's been at Salford for so long now many can take that as disrespectful but their best players get picked off year after year he hasn't.
Then there's the question of fitness he has 1 good knee so is that worth 65k?
We lack a General at HB a genuine Leader with an all round kicking game ,creative passing game and someone who can win a tight game on their own from nothing.
Lui is neither of the above he is a maverick who can do a few things well when he has that commanding 7 alongside him we don't have that.
Lui is more of a maverick like Dwyer who plays more off the cuff do we need that 6 and 9 without the aforementioned 7?
Now EVERY FAN who knows RL knows what we need and Lui ticks 1 box at most and none pf the key ones we haven't had since Mcguire & Sinfield left.

It’s worth bearing in mind that our “draw” for top players in the open market might not be as strong as we would like to think. We can only sign players who want to join the club, and who we can afford.
If Lui comes, it might be that he’s just the best/only option we have right now. It’s common knowledge we’re interested in Hastings and have sniffed around Maloney too.
Many of KS signings have been cheap and cheerful squad fillers; some others have been OK. He has the task of unravelling 4 years or so of p-poor recruitment and many of those under long-term contracts still - it is a mess.

Fair point re-draw for top players but id suggest it's not as though we've become lepers either.
I also know full well the scenario we face with regards to options but that doesn't mean because should it be our only option that it is the right one.
Crosby Thompson Ferres et al ALL were our only options and every one not needed not worth the money or the shirt.
That's a multiple winning GF/CC Prop and International BR and a SL BR with over 100 1st team apps decent CV's yet all poor signings.
As for them being cheap it doesn't mean we should accept mediocrity 65k and wages isn't small change id rather we kept it rather than accept whatever we could scrape together.

I'm surprised at the reaction from some on here maybe in terms of Rugby League some of you may think your the equivalent of Man City when it comes to money and who you think should be at your club. My guess is if Rob was coming from the NRL or even Saints it would be a masterstroke but Salford, how low have we come to be signing sh*t from them.

Let me tell you all Salford fans will be devastated if the *Star Man* leaves the Reds he is a quality top drawer player and maybe your people in charge know that better than some of you.

Also just to point out he has hardly ever missed a match in his time with us he's full value, a great player and person, and whilst he's an off the cuff player he ran the halves on his own last season when we had that joker Jack Littlejohn so he should be ok with that true Salford reject Myler.

And he may not be Jonathan Thurston but he was his half back partner at the Cowboys for a while and is still good mates with jonno .

If, big if, we do sign Lui I think it's pretty obvious he isn't the type of player we all think we need. That doesn't make him a bad player, or even a bad signing, it's just not the very key signing that we probably need.

Will we better with him in, I would say so. Could he singlehandedly save us from relegation? I don't know, it's a squad game and one player can only do so much but he will give us a spark.

As for what Salford fans think about our reaction on here.. no offence but Im not interested in what they think really. Happy to have some banter but they will know as much about what we need as I do what they need.
