Totally agree!
I'd comment on the state of your pitch but every time I go to Odsal I forget my binoculars so I've only ever really seen it from a distance. I'm sure the people that can make out the pitch from where they stand think it's a good one... anybody know the water carrier or a steward so we can find out??

It won't be. We could win the treble and Biff would still find fault somewhere. I wouldn't bother trying mate. Save yourself the energy.

| Just going back to the Big Screen.
I can't see it confirmed anywhere but does the Big Screen replace any need for sky's one when required?
If so could this be a part reason why Leeds are down to be on Sky so often?
I questioned whether there is payback on the screen earlier in this thread, and nobody came back with an answer. But maybe the payback is Sky? Do we still get fees for when team on Sky at home, or is it part of the Sky deal? If we do then more times on Sky will make big chunk paybacks on the screen, and therefore been the 1st to do it in the comp could be a big benefit to the club.

I may be wrong but i'm sure the regular season games are bought as a package by SKY and the money spread evenly between the 14 teams.
When the play-offs start that's when the individual clubs get more tv money iirc.

I am unsure on it, and you could be right, but that would be poor negotiating from the RFL bearing in mind that Football gets massive sums for the rights, then massive sums to show the game. But not surprising from the RFL.
I seem to remember GH moaning a few times a couple of years back about changing games and the loss of corporates because of it. But did say they do get compensated by the tv fee for the game.
If they did get match fees aswell then like I said having fixed dates for Sky now and Leeds been on a lot can only be good for payback on the screen.
Of course all that assuming that this screen would replace the Sky one, which I still don't know if that is the case?

Advertising.
Millions and millions to be made in advertising.
It is purely how ITV makes it's money
It is how Newspapers make the majority of their money (the price they charge for the actual paper covers very little) they sell adverts first, then fill the spaces with News stories.
It is how Facebook has made it's creator one of the youngest ever billionaires.
Part of the overall package that Leeds Rugby Ltd. can now offer is
Quote "Your advert will appear on [however big screen seen by 15,000 people every two weeks."'"
and that is a direct result of the screen.
There are more "indirect" results too. For example... the screen improves the match day experience for fans, meaning gradually attendances could rise (if like the Mrs moans that she can't see so stopped coming, but she can see the screen so comes again) meaning the line above can be increased to 17,000 people every two weeks, meaning they can charge more for adverts.
Another example of indirect income is that they could show historic matches, or maybe a particular football match (Euros or something important) that might be on during the preceding hour or so to kick off (as Warrington did with the Germany match!) Meaning people would get to the ground earlier, increasing food & drink sales (which have a ridiculously high mark up as it is).
Another... they could also advertise their own stuff like they do with the banner on the website promoting the new leisure wear range... "POP OVER TO THE CLUB SHOP NOW!" so people have a wander over to the shop and get a new hoody. Again, more income.
They all only seem like bits but it's all a result of having the screen.

No idea mate ,as for the RFL negotiating the tv deal they've already given carte blanche to SKY to chop and change the fixtures as they see fit so the %% pay out deal should'nt surprise us.

You make a good point that I hadn't related to on advertising. But you have gone way overboard with the millions and millions.
If you are a sponsor to advertise it is not expensive to have a board around the ground has it stands, which would also be viewable by three stands of the ground. But agreed the screen advertising would be an addition to this.
But would an advertiser prefer a constant view for three stands or a constantly changing shared view with other advertisers on the screen?
There certainly won't be big money on the advertising on the screen, unless it's a fixed sponsor for the screen.
Your other idea of showing something on it that entices supporters earlier is a good point though. Not sure they will get there much earlier for Friday night matches though, but it is still a good point that could give additional benefits.
I doubt very much though that attendances would rise as a result of having the screen. It would take more than that to entice people to a game, and its the quality on the field that gives that.

| Look at Leeds Utd's screen, goes through alot of adverts before kick off. I'd presume ours will do the same. It could be part of the shirt/stadium sponsorship deals but i bet the screen could easily bring it what it cost within 3seasons.

Sorry mate, it reads wrong. I didn't mean that LEEDS could make millions and millions. I just mean that in general there are millions and millions to be made in advertising. Facebook is case in point which has made BILLIONS purely on advertising.
Leeds would only be hoping for a tiny share of the worlds advertising revenue, but still... with the sort of foot fall and eyes on the screen they'll be talking about (into 10's of thousands), there is certainly money to be made. I certainly think you'll be looking into the thousands per annum, which is not to be sniffed at to say the screens primary function is to please the fans.

| I literally wept tears of unfettered joy when it was announced a permanent big screen was to be erected in order to enhance and enlighten our very match day experience and collective existential being. Mere words will always fail to express my unquestioning devotion and servile belief in our great patron and leader who has yet again fulfilled another of his most gracious promises to all his subjects and to improve their quality of life. He is truly a despot of the most enlightened kind.

We're having a serious discussion here so do as all a favour and go sit with your head down a toilet and stop being a Jeremy Hunt (first chance I've had to use that since Monday! Result!).

Big screen, meh
They have one at Hull already and sky still bring their own, if sky were to use it then we would lose the use of it for other purposes so I suspect it will be two screens side by side?

Firstly... what? I know you use my name but is that supposed to be directed at me?? I've never mentioned Sky?
Secondly.... Believest isn't a word and even if it was I don't understand the context you've used it in here?
Thirdly... Why am I a chump? Because I believe there's money to be made by having a screen? The alternative is there's absolutely no financial gain or revenue generated at all by the club by installing one, and Uncle Gary has just decided to spend 10s of thousands on a screen purely to keep us happy for Christmas. I'm sure that's the MUCH more likely justification.

| Future human history shall bear remarkable testament to the supreme influential role played by the greatest and most remarkable Big Screen ever to be erected. Millions upon millions of Believists from all over the world shall trek thousands of miles to ascend upon the sacred steps of the terrace of the west in bare-feet to pay homage to Headingley and consult the very same Big Screen seeking consultation and divine wisdom. Some shall seek consultation on complex matters such as the divine meaning of life itself. Others shall seek consultation on simpler matters such as 'Does a Rhinos-4-Life membership entitle me to 10% off the latest shirt?'. Temples and shrines to Sinny, Mags and Keef shall be erected alongside in due course as Rhinos-4-Life worshippers fawn at the feet of a remarkable Great Leader and his gifted legacy. Rituals shall be performed; sacrifices shall be made. It shall become a remarkable world centre of religious fervour, commerce, banking and corporate hospitality.

Fair enough... we get it. Discussing the screen to you is trivial, pointless and nonsensical. Totally understand that.
It is, however, the off season, and some people just enjoy discussing all things Rhinos to keep entertained.
If it doesn't interest you, just don't contribute.
I can't stand cricket. Worst game on the planet IMO, thus... I haven't even opened the Ashes thread let alone contributed. I could show off my language skills by satirically discussing how people can watch a game that can last 5 days and finish in a draw is beyond me. But I don't. Because a) it would ruin other people's discussion and b) it would make me a t[iw[/iat.
