Real hammer blow for the team.....but particularly for the man himself: it does sound as though even when recovered he might struggle to be the same mighty cornerstone of the pack again. It's that old enemy, age, which will diminish his impact. One of the all time Leeds' greats (and I've seen a few since 1977). Again a real pity for the guy. He really deserved his place at Wembley. Incentive enough to get him there again next year maybe for his one last chance.

Ambler can fill his boots in the (short to) medium term - he looks the part with the few opportunities he's had....in the [u[ivery[/i[/u short term we need Bailey to step up. Hope he can do it.

I said on this forum a week ago that Peacock and Sinfield should be rested for Wembley - and what happens ?

He'd earned the right to sit it out until Wembley so that Sod's Law wouldn't get to him. Now for God's sake Bluey, rest Kevin Sinfield again this weekend !

I'm absolutely gutted for Jamie because without him we wouldn't have got past Wigan and he typically climbed off his sick bed to play in that game.

Without his second effort in the dying seconds of that game, Wigan wouldn't have made the error that enabled Smith to score the winning try from the scrum.

Sport can be so unfair but its up to the rest of the team to win it for him. That will be no easy task, now, with forwards going down like skittles.

He also laid the match winner on a plate for McGuire in the semi.

But I was worried when Webb was out for the GF in '08 and look what kind of a performance Smithy turned in then.

I'm still confident with the group of players we have, the guys will step up.

That would be my team I think, but I would play Eastwood in place of Ambler on the bench and use him as the interchange prop.

Massive blow, however I'm still confident with players like Sinfield, McGuire and Buderus we have enough to beat Warrington.

Great player, sort of guy you just have to respect. I'll really be hoping for a Wigan-Leeds Cup Final in 2011 now, so he can get the Wembley run-out he deserves.

I never said we were! I was just honest enough to post my initial reaction. After the shock, upset and childlike foot stamping subsided I realised we can win any game without a few of our stars. I have total faith in this team and the vast majority of my posts would back this up.

The YEP has said he might be in contention for selection on Friday, so one assumes he is fit again and at least gives Bluey an option if he does want to rest someone or put him on the bench to spell a couple of the back during the game.

Yeah same here mate. 2 legends of our game. 2 great players and 2 top blokes. Its such a shame for the great man... i'm totally devastated. Hopefully it will be a great final with a Rhinos win

I just bloody knew it! A nothing bump on the knee and bang, season over. He may not even be available till May/June next season either. A miserable year for injuries, but this tops the pile.
Jamie has had a lot of big nights in his career, and there should be more to come, so I don't feel overly gutted for him, but without him the chances of the rest of the team tasting defeat massively increases.

When you say stuff like that with the season we have had, you almost guarantee that Senior, Webb and McGuire all get crocked.

The tackle that put JP out for the season I assume was when Westerman wrapped his leg round JP`s that caused the injury.
Was that the same "technique" that put Kylie out when we played Crusaders ?
I am not for one minute blaming anyone.
But it does appear that this technique needs looking at.

I know what you mean and I should have said, assuming everyone stays fit, but it is good to have him back as an option just in case!



I would hope that despite our opposition on Friday, that Cummins will put Bentham or even Thaler in for the Friday night game with a view to making sure nobody does anything daft from the Catalans! We don't need Child or Uncle Albert on Friday thanks!
