The GF is a one off game which ultimately decides who is given the trophy. There is also the full domestic season and another trophy available. I think winning this other trophy 3 out of the last 4 years and finishing top of the table for the last 4 is ample evidence. I dont see any arrogance in that and I have stated that I expect Leeds to take over this mantle this season and more than likely do the double.

Finishing top of the league might've meant something meaningful before 1998 but since then it hasn't. Our Champions are the best team in the league. Our champions have been decided by GF wins for 11 years.

Over the last four years Saints have not been the best team in Britain. Far from it. Over the last four years Saints have qualified for the playoff in top spot and only won one championship, on the occasion you avoided us and Bradford.

Why would I feel inferior after the last two Grand Finals? All I asked you to do was quantify your statement of the "best". Your response demonstrated who has the inferiority complex, and deservedly so.

So thinking that a side that has finished top of the league for the past 4 years and won 1 of the 2 domestic trophies on offer for the past 3 years including the double in one of those, has been favourites for the past 3 Grand Finals, won 1 and runner up in 2 has been the best side for the past 4 years is arrogance ? Over the past 4 seasons, Saints have won 4 of the 8 trophies on offer. That is 50% of the silverware. How on earth can they be far from the best side in that period ? You really do come across as a pleb.

In defence of the name I called Mathers - I dont view players injuries as funny. It is a name I have used for Mathers for sometime now as he has dodgy knees. It is a bit like Geoff Boycott always refers to Tony Greg as creaky knees.

Saints, the best team in Super League for the past four years? Now even that one made me wet myself! In those four years who has cheated by breaking the salary cap the most times? Yes, thats where they are the best team in Super League for the past four years - you just didnt specify the reason or category for being the best!

On the surface you would agree that the lot from Liverpool have the best record, but when you scratch the surface you see a side who regularly broke the salary cap. Managed to chose the refs eg Ian Smith not allowed to ref their games. The rules changed so that a person born in the town and a well know supporter is allowed to ref their games. Players banned for illegal betting on their games. You do start to wonder whether their was a level playing field.

The bottom line is that you have to follow the rules of the comp, and in the great game you win the comp if you win the grand final. Saints fans can moan as much as they want but we did not make the rules.

Yes I have. Numerous times. I've explained why we don;t consider league leader's the best side any more, because it's nothing more than a qualifying competition.

Its' fairly well recognised that the Champions are the best team in the competition and as much as that may upset the arrogant fans of the "might" "S" that aint been you lot that much recently sunshine.

This season with a balanced fixture list you may be better able to argue the case that the winner of the League Leaders shield is 'the overall best team' In the meantime by the only relevant criteria (winning the GF) the best team in each of the last four years would appear to be...LEEDS, LEEDS, ST HELENS & BRADFORD
