More seriously, Sinfield's record is likely to be broken is by a kicker who also scores a lot of tries. Even then it would need to be someone who spends a good ten years as the kicker. Given the combination of time, ability and luck (both with injuries and being helped by playing in a good side rather than an average one) required, it may be at least another 50 years before anyone beats Sinfield's record.

Sinfield's try was his 50th in the SL Regular Rounds and he becomes the 14th Leeds player to do so.

Although Lewis Jones played his final game for the Leeds club at Headingley V Halifax on the 30th March 1964 he had already scored his final points for the club in a game at Knowsley Road V St Helens on the 22d February 1964 - coincidentally Leeds' first victory at that ground for 17 years.

Using the date of his final points rather than his final appearance the Leeds player points scoring record has stood for just over 48 years or 17,555 days.

Jones' total of 2,920 was made up of 144 (3 point) Tries and 1,244 (2 point) Goals amassed over 385 Appearances.

Sinfield's current total of 2,925 is made up of 68 (4 point) Tries, 1,313 (2 point) Goals and 27 Drop Goals amassed over 406 Appearances (including 27 made from the bench)

Does that mean that in 139 more point time he will have scored more points than Jones would have in the modern scoring system.

You can't quite do that because you don't know how many drop goals (then worth 2 points) Jones scored - they were all just recorded as goals. What you could do is work out Sinfield's tally in 'old money' by adding a point to every drop goal and taking off a point for every try (then worth 3 points). A bit OTT to be honest.
