Totally amazing news! What a true legend in our life time. Sinfield is still put down by other clubs fans week in week out! Those of us who have watched over the years know he is awesome. and off the field he is a leader and a gent.

Great news for the club and everyone connected with it. Besides a coaching role, he could also show those less capable of putting a thank you speech together how to do it. (O'Loughlin for example)

I think Kevin wants to go spend some time in the US when he hangs up his boots. IIRC he's always fancied the idea of coaching kicking for an American Football club. I don't know if this is still his plan, obviously things change, but it certainly was at one stage.

I'm sure if it is still the case he would come back afterwards, but if it is still something he's thinking of doing then we don't need to be expecting him to just immediately take up a back room job in 2015 (ala Cunningham).

Debuted in 1997 so he'd need to go to 2017. This contract only takes him to end of 2014. Still, 17 years isn't bad!!

Doug Laughton brought him to the club as a 13 year old, and proudly declared he had signed the best player the club would ever have. Looks like he was right to me...

Has Sinfield ever intimated that he is even interested in coaching? Why do fans assume the only avenue open to ex players is coaching so condesending - it is as if these players have nothing else to offer?

Sinfield appears a highly intelligent, articulate individual who - if his time at Leeds is anything to go by - would make a success of whatever field he decided to adopt post rugby.

His extension is good news the only caveat I would say is hopefully his role as playmaker will evolve - the thought three plays out of every six gowing through his hands for the next four years doesn't fill me with me with baited breath.

Sinfield is a great player - but his has plus and minuses to his game, inspirational leader solid defensively, but as last year showed and as the game against Bradford illustrated not a top notch playmaker. This has been my view consistently for 6-8 years, this is not a troll.

Secondly, if you have thought, consistently for 6-8 years, that Sinfield is not a top notch playmaker then you need to book yourself a mental health assessment as soon as you possibly can.

If he is a top notch playmaker how come he isn't an automatic selection for England at 6 and when he has played at the highest level he has been found wanting?

We haven't got a top notch playmaker in SL - by top notch I mean the likes of Thurston, Lockyear, Carney, Marshall etc, The nearest we have is Lee Briars but the rest of his game doesn't match Sinfield's in any shape or form

He's been a great servant for you, but four years for a 30 year old could be a big risk.

Given his age and the length of the contract could it be possible that he has accepted reduced pay in exchange for long term financial security?

If so may this also have freed up some money under the salary cap?
