Why does he hate leeds? He used to play for leeds. He is a proud Wiganer as you would expect. But he is also a professional coach.

The main talking point should be how much damage has Smith done, I can think of 3 players that should be out of the door immediately. Obviously that will be difficult because of contractual agreements. Potentially Smith has set us back at least 2 seasons. No point in immediately sacking him , let him continue to the end of the season. That give us ample time to find a new coach.'"
So keep him on and let him cause more damage

| Not this again. First Rowley, now Wane. They are professionals. If the terms offered are right, they'll come. And if any professional sportsman didn't want to go to a particular club because he "hates" them then deary me.

| I can’t say I have a clue what goes on behind the scenes, but I imagine GH is putting the pretty serious feelers out the for Jason Demetriou, Justin Holbrook or Brad Arthur before making an announcement or decision on Smiths future.
I would have absolutely no confidence in Chev Walker or Scott Grix taking over as interim, as they’re in effect all part of a failed coaching staff, so in that sense there’s no point sacking smith if there’s no one to come in.

| The main purpose would be to send a signal to players and fans that enough's enough. Its pretty common for assistants to take over as caretaker if the head coach is sacked. The problem last time we did it was that Agar got the gig permanently.

I'd be staggered if this wasn't the case. One thing is certain. The next coach must be tried and tested at this level.

| Not a fan of appointing a caretaker coach mainly due to them less authority and we could end up being in a bigger mess than we already are.Get the new man in now.

| Smith has had long enough and performances continue to be substandard and inexplicably inept. Gary H has banked some of his own reputation on appointing Smith so won’t react quickly. I think Rohan’s roster management has been better than some aspects of his performance, though I agree there is more hope than evidence, in converting journeymen into stars.
I don’t think they have been doing due diligence in incoming players. Miller is a good example - superficially in some clips may seem exciting but is just too giddy.
No leadership on the pitch. I am not a fan of players giving a consolatory touch to a team mate having made a mistake.
Best start again and appoint a decent Director of Rugby who will in the short term put pressure on Rohan, and in meantime organise a search for a new coach.

Think the damage is already done. We aren’t going win anything nor will we be relegated. So we have ample time to appoint a successor , if a decent coach comes along go for him. Not certain a temporary coach would make a substantial difference, certainly won’t be converting Roberts into a world class three quarter. Nor Frawley into a decent half back. You appear to be the font of all knowledge so it may pay for the club to appoint you as temporary coach.

| I doubt GH will take any action if at all until the end of the season. It will reflect badly on him yet again with his poor choices of the coach in this and previous seasons. Also if we finish in the top 6 then Smith will probably be here next season.
The only way he possibly would take action is if we lose to one of the bottom 3 over the next month, as even he would realise the unrest, even amongst the most loyal supporters, would be too much to ignore and bear..
Beat the bottom 3 easily and either a narrow win or loss to Leigh and I don't believe he will do anything.

| On another note you don`t think there might be some discontent amongst the players with the likes of Newman and most likely Croft possibly Ackers getting the big bucks which has divided the dressing room?
When I see players like Cam Smith who I thought had a decent last season play like he couldn`t care less and others who appear to have gone backwards in their development this season.
Could there be an undercurrent that all is not well?
Or maybe the players do not buy into Smith`s coaching methods which seems most likely?

If that is the case should not Smith, as captain, speak to Rohan about their concerns.

| It's all speculation and we just don't know. Losing games and having your own crowd turn on you does apply tremendous pressure though and that's when cracks appear. Just as when you're winning you gloss over the problems a bit.
I don't think lots of players have gone backwards this year TBH. Handley and Oledski have been consistently decent all year, Cam Smith has played as well as he has in his whole career under Rohan Smith. I feel more like the players are stitching up the coach by poor form and performances more than anything else. Ultimately he will pay a price but in my view this squad still simply isn't good enough to compete at the top.

| Retaining fusi and Donaldson has proven to be a poor choice when what we needed was a reliable winger and a back rower with some oomph.
Signing Goudemand when what we needed was a power house prop similar.
Olpherts,Hooley, Roberts are shaping up to be silly or poor signings.
Croft,Ackers, McDonnell have been generally good despite how poor we are playing.
Jury out on Miller and Frawley but they have weaknesses that are exposed every game.
My thoughts before the season started were that we were much stronger and that RS would stay in post unless we were threatened with relegation.
What I wanted to see was better performances with more structure, less errors and less of the passive/ bonkers stuff.
What I have seen is a team & coach that can't fix basic skill issues, play to no structure, make the same mistakes and display the same attitude.

| I had some sympathy with Frawley with the intercept. He gets that ball to Handley it’s a try. One of those 12 point moments.
I still don’t know who is responsible for recruitment - probably a team effort. What is clear is that Leeds for years have gone cheap, and when they have gone for names they’ve often gone wrong.

Not asking for a temporary coach , there are good options available now and money talks , Rowley and Salford would not be able to turn Leeds down .

To be fair if i was on the jury it would not have taken long , one is a Seven a side player , the other is a Super League and N.R.L failure before coming to Leeds

| I'd like to see us look better organised too, but if players keep on dropping the ball or missing 1:1 tackles your structure is worth nothing frankly. You can't apply structure if you're inviting to opposition to attack you all game.
Be an interesting next few fixtures. If Cas beat us at home I can only imagine the crowd...

| Well, if we are going to recycle Rohan, the next six months could be a decent time to do it with the NRL merry-go-round.
Ultimately the players will have a lot to do with who coaches the team but - Brad Arthur would probably be my first choice. A decade of head coach experience in NRL, some very strong contacts with players too. Whether he would come to the UK when he has a lot of family commitments in Aus though.. not sure. He seems to be the kind of "father figure" coach that I think our young squad might need, maybe a little Graham Murray-esque in that regard.
Whoever we do get in, if we do replace RS, we need to back him with some money to make a couple of big signings for 2025 too.

We cannot afford anyone other than a coach with a proven track record at first grade. I know it doesn't guarantee anything, but we need to give ourselves the best possible chance of success.

Don`t know about that as he`s just signed (last week) a 2 year extension so at the very least Salford would receive a much bigger payout. Hull FC offered him a Quarter of a Million to go East and he turned them down so money obviously isnt the issue. His kids are at A Level stage so maybe next year his arm could be twisted.
