I don't mind who is stood beside me at the game . As proof of this you should come and see who I stand with hehehehe .
I have stood in WT in the middle of the Pies . Have stood on the old ET amid the FC .
In an ideal world there would be no animosity between rival supporters . I know that there isn't any from me towards them . But , and there is always a but . I can live with the banter and the bull5hit , but when they start getting physical you really can't be expected to stand there and take it . Reporting it to the stewards is ok if you survive long enough to get to them to report it .
Until as recently as three years ago I have never had any problems at RL matches .. Ok .. Once or twice with Crusaders and Hornets fans at Bramley ..But it seems that wendyball mentality has crept in , and it looks like it is here to stay . Hence the security levels at games nowadays , and hence why I probably won't be renewing my ST when the time arrives to do so .

At the end of the day, if you stand in the SS and are a gobe, attention seeker like Gledhill clearly is, what do you expect?

Why would you wear a Bradford top in the SS unless you wanted people to notice it?

I have no problem with his choice of attire . Fair play to him for wearing his colours . I have done it a few times at other grounds and have been fortunate to find the natives to be welcoming and friendly .

A bit of banter and verbal abuse is to be expected . Physical abuse is not acceptable . ATEOTD it is only a game .

I stood in the centre of the SS for the first time in years....And it was like fooking zoo! Fans fighting amongst themselves. Idiots looking as if they wanted to enter the pitch and sort Child out. So many idiots. I felt sorry for the stewards. Up and down the stairs all night. I dont know what they were saying Rick or if they were correct, but what ever was going on they looked like they had there work cut out!

there should be no problem wearing "away" colours in a Rugby league ground, never mind a "neutral" shirt - however I have worn my Leeds shirt at games i attended as a neutral and then subsequently had to stand away from where i had originally intended

wouldn't choose the southstand for neutral purposes myself, not seen a steward anywhere near me in all the time Ive been there and it's a magnet for idiots and drunks who on occasions will fight amongst themselves never mind an easy target

Im assuming you are the scum that threw the bottle at Mick then? I have seen many Bulls shirts in the SS at the back and never seen anyone react badly to them. Mick is not just a Bulls fan, he's a RL fan. As mentioned before he goes all over the place wearing his Bulls shirt and has never had problems before. He just wears his shirt with pride. If you cant get that through your head then dont bother coming back because we dont want or need people like you.

That about covers it. You should be able to wear your shirt at games. Banter is to be expected but should end there good natured banter

Was stood next to a Wire fan for the Saints game this year, at the back, nice lad tbh, good bit of banter and not a bad word said from anyone who realised he was a Wire fan.

I have been shot down on these boards in the past for comparing the apparent hatred towards anyone wearing opponent colours to racism . I stand by my past comments on the subject . People should be welcomed regardless of their shirt ( or skin) colour .
Am I still wrong in my thoughts on this subject ?

In the nrl you see loads of shirts from many teams at most games. if people wanna support the game good on em.

No reason why I should mate - every Leeds fan I have ever known has been very much totally decent. In fact, most put more than a few of our own lot to shame, both with knowledge of the game and with having followed the team through lean times as well as good, and understanding what it is all about.

That was why I was quite upset to read what happened. You sort of expected it at the Boulevard or Hilton Park, but the worst I would have expected at Headingley was a bloody good bantering (like on here...) - nothing worse.

Unfortunately I missed Mick (NO . It wasn't me that threw a bottle at him ) Wouldn't have minded having a minute or two to have a word with one of the elite few who have almost cult status on these boards . He and Damo are amongst that elite . I didn't see him until he had passed me on his way out . Couldn't miss the shirt . It was big .

Oh, it's big.

In fact, it left "big" behind some way back, and having sped past "very big" (and that's sort of me...) it is making serious ground on "huge"...!



Be good if a few more on here could meet Mick - he's not at all what you expect, and actually knows what he is talking about regarding the game. I know, I was shocked as well! Bit of a wally sometimes but heart of gold, tbh.

More Xs on his shirt label than on his pools coupon . That ain't uncommon on the lads I stand with . The Big Andy that has been mentioned is the one that has often appeared on telly with his belly out .He has no shame .

Many ventures onto foreign soils have ended in drunken belly measuring contests . To his credit he has only been beaten once . I have no idea where . But it definitely happened .

Actually . It might have been a Headingley about two years ago. Against a Saints fan .
I clearly (ish) remember them arguing over who was the biggest fattest barsteward .

That is how things should be . Who cares about who is the best , hardest , or fastest ?(deliberately omitted biggest)
It should be about having fun and a good day out .

No Rick I was stood further down steps just at side - next to the scuffle between the psycho lad with the glasses and hoody, and the big guy with pink away shirt. That was interesting




My opinion on Gledhill is, the abuse was way out of order but your always opening yourself upto it. You can go to games as a neutral but there are places you can and can't watch the game from. The middle of the SS is a big no no! My brother is a Bulls fan and he has been to some games with me, but we've always stood at the scoreboard end of the SS. No way would we have gone into the middle. No its not right but that is modern society.

There's something very familiar about Krisleeds's trolling attempts...

Just thought I’d throw my two penneth in to all of this. I’m the lad that was with Mick last Friday in the SS (or as Neil has put it the psycho with the Glasses)
I did actually tell Mick NOT to wear his Bulls shirt as he would be standing with me in my normal place in the middle of the SS. I know what it gets like up there sometimes so I thought it would be for the best. But as he and so many people mentioned why should he NOT wear his Rugby Team’s colour’s? It’s a Rugby League match, supposed to be a ‘Family Game’

He did get the odd look and the occasional chant went up about Bradford Bulls which is all part and parcel of the game and of course banter.

What we didn’t expect was as soon as the score line started going downhill for us we would be subjected to getting a bottle thrown at us. Well I say us it actually hit me right at the side of my head!!

Half time came so I alerted our finest Headingley Stewards – Nothing happened.

Second half then more Beer thrown in our direction, told the Stewards once more. Nothing happened.

Now of course looking back the easiest thing to do would have been just to move away from that area. Why we didn’t’ I don’t know!

I then saw something I haven’t seen at a RL match for years, 7 minutes to go Mick needed to go to the Toilet, obviously the score line wasn’t the greatest. 3 fully grown men chased him down the stairs shouting all sorts of abuse at him, now I’m not naming names on here because that isn’t the right thing to do but the people who were there no who it was.
I saw all of this happen so it was then I followed these lads down, I was trying to calm them down then all I got was abuse saying “I wasn’t Leeds etc etc etc…”
I said a few words which I’m not happy about, and I know the best thing to do would have been to leave it for the Stewards to sort out, but previously asking them for a bit of help twice and getting no response sometimes you do think to yourself what’s the point in them being there?

I thought I was doing the right thing in sticking up for my Friend, but from the reaction of the Stewards I was clearly wrong. The only time they were doing their job was to ruff me up and not listen to a word we said about the situation afterwards.

The thing is now though, the next time I go to HQ I won’t be able to stand in my usual place due to all of this and I’m gutted. I don’t want to be the subject of more hostility!

Sorry for anyone that saw the incident towards the end of the game that’s not usually like me.
