| Leeds only I think. Neil Fox would have most of the points/goals records for career.
Danny McGuire must be within spitting distance of becoming Leeds' 5th highest tryscorer as well - he was close to Les Dyl at the en of last season.

Given the other names on that list, should Sinfield avoid serious injury resulting in a period of non-involvement, he should not only hit the top of the list soon, but should stay there for a very very long time. Not bad for a bloke who doesn't score enough Tries...

To be fair Bats, neither of the players in front of him were exactly prolific try scorers, were they?

I'm going to go out on a limb here and suggest that when he does, Hall is likely to do so with the best strike rate of any player on that list bar Eric Harris in terms of tries per game.
Not bad for a player who should be in the centre or second row according to some.

The 194 goals Jones kicked in 1956/57 equalled Sullivan's best figure from 1933/34.
The Jones 194 was topped the following season (1957/5icon_cool.gif by Bernard Ganley at Oldham with 219 and that record was also subsequently bettered by David Watkins at Salford with 221 in 1972/73.
No idea where the record for goals in a season stands now unfortunately.

Could it be for points in a season?
Lewis Jones held that record at one time (possibly still does) after he amassed 496 during the Challenge Cup winning 1956/57 season. This record includes all points scored in a season from club and representative fixtures.

It's the role of every player on the team to score tries, however as Loose Forward (and playmaker) it's not his primary role.
You were in fact correct that it was an attempt at irony, but clearly a poor one...

| Despite that Kevin Sinfield is still 10th on the Leeds SL Era try list with 66 to his credit through his longevity.
His strike-rate of 17.277 tries per 100 appearances is the poorest in the top 19 until you reach Matt Diskin (16.667) and Barrie McDermott (14.925)

| Its interesting that Sinfield scores so few tries. Whilst it is partly a result of his role as playmaker, it does tend to support the fact that his lack of pace/power makes him less of a threat individually near to the line.

Or alternatively, that he's adept at setting up others while still being able to take any opportunities which open up for him.
Half a dozen tries a season isn't a bad return for a back row forward IMO, particularly when you factor in the other elements to his game.

Indeed.
Look at 2004 for example. Leeds scored a bucket load of tries that year. Sinfield returned 4. There's only so many tries to go around and it is not his job to be on the end of them.
So much more goes into a try than who puts down the ball but the less educated fan only sees the try scorers I guess.

| Kevin Sinfield has now closed within 6 goals of equalling the total set by Lewis Jones for Leeds.
1) Lewis Jones - 1,244
2) Kevin Sinfield - 1,212 + 26 (dg) = 1,238
__________
Somewhat ironically, just as Sinfield closes in on the record points scored in SL fixtures (Regular Rounds + Play-Offs) the current number 1 (Deacon) has rediscovered his scoring touch with both boot and ball and hand.
1) Paul Deacon - 2,409
2) Kevin Sinfield - 2,392
Only delaying the inevitable (?) but an unexpected response nonetheless.

I'm just a little too young to remember Mr Jones' feats on the field; and too old to have him as my class teacher.....but I feel a little sad for him to have his record surpassed. By all acccounts he was an exceptional talent on the field.
Take nothing away from Sinfield: he too will be remembered as a Leeds legend. Congratulations Kevin.
