Such a pity we can`t get Luke Thompson for at least one season.
He`s been offered to other clubs and if we could get some of his salary paid that would be like Christmas has come early.

I think there would have to be some serious off loading for that to happen.

Allegedly Catalans Leeds and Hull KR all offered the same salary for Dylan Napa. The figure reported was 215k a year which it seems difficult to believe unless one of our other overseas players on big money were potentially leaving.

If that is true then we have some serious cap spare.
Not sure who would leave as all the overseas players appear to be settled for this season.

Interesting bit of crystal ball gazing. Long, long way to go though. If Austin's performances for Leeds are deemed of the requisite quality by an NRL team we'll have had some good value from him. Is Trueman worth going all out for? Not so sure myself. He needs to stay fit and play consistently well over a prolonged period in order to live up to some of the hype. Too early to make predictions in the case of Sinfield junior, but there is certainly the potential there.

Jake Trueman has all the hallmarks of a player easy to overpay. Yet to fully reach the required level but thanks to the scarcity of decent home grown halves his next contract will certainly be lucrative. Interesting to see how he goes and the same applies to Austin. Could turn out that the wiser spend would be improving his terms in order to hang on.

An outside bet might be Pryce at Huddersfield.

Leeds have shown a willingness to splash the cash recently so funding a transfer fee won't be a problem as long as Hetherington feels the player is worth it.

When did we last pay a transfer fee? Its hard to remember as its always listed as 'undisclosed' was Leeming a transfer fee signing? Been a long time since we paid a lot for a player.

We paid transfer fees of £205k in the past couple of years. This will be for Gale and Leeming and possibly Mclelland who were all under contract when signed.
We're pretty much the only club in the league who can afford this nowadays.
