To be fair, his own coach made specific mention in post game interviews to Friday, that "his passing game is improving".

I would take that to mean, but could be wrong, that the coach has been working on Burrow's passing game, as he saw it as a weaker part of his game.

No he wasn't he was speaking the truth.

Burrows passing at times this season has been appaling. But like you stated above, on Friday it was superb, inparticular the incidents you highlighted.

McClennan said this in the interviews after, it was printed in the rags. He said he expected Burrow to move on now for the rest of this season, that he expects him to peak soon, and that on Friday his passing game showed big improvements. It was in at least two rags I read yesterday, think YEP.

If you go to the same link and look for the piece on Brent Webbs injury, further down on that piece McClennan talks about Burrow, and his passing game improving.

I know. that is why I found the link. I was checking up on you. You can never be too sure. I still think he's wrong.

Burrow's form and fitness is improving, as you would expect from any player who has been in and out of the side, and the crisp-ness and timing of his passing will improve.

However, its' not something new to Rob's game. Its' been there for a number of seasons.

Are the coaches putting more emphasis on Rob putting other players through the gap rather than attacking the line himself due to the hammerings that he has received this season.

And a correct and excellent tactic too. It makes the lad much less predictable, and much more dangerous.

I think if he has runners he will give them the ball.

On many occasions Rob has little option other than to take on the line himself.

I recall specifically Wigan away last year. His amazing solo effort before putting McGuire in at the right corner.

When Rob received that ball his first move was to look for a runner, wait for a runner then, "oh well, nobody is running I'll take on the line myself".

Imagine Burrow attacking the line with his acceleration if he had runners either side each play. He'd be impossible to stop.

I agree with you last statement. Problem is from the games I see (limited to Sky) the forwards don't seem to start running until they receive the ball. It's something that I'm constantly bemoaning. This reduces the chances of the likes of burrow being able to put players through the gap and he's often ended up taking it on himself.

Yup. Its' the style we often play and I don't like it either. Compare with the Saints movement and runners off the ball.

Whilst Saints movement is better I still think they catch the ball at walking pace a lot, especially when forwards are taking it at first receiver. There seems to be a need to ensure that the ball is secured before the collision which is understandable, but a good player should be able to do that whilst taking the ball at pace.

Yep I've thought the same. Compare the speed a forward in SL receives the ball at and the speed a forward in the NRL receives the ball. Its the main reason why they are better than us in my opinion.
(Plus Folau and Lockyer. They're freaks.)

What I can't understand is why this hasn't changed with the proliferation of overseas coaches over the years. My best bets though are

Forwards failing to time their run with the PTB thus leading to chaotic play the balls or

Players not being able to catch and secure the ball in one motion meaning they have to wait until they are happy that the ball is secure before they can go into the collision.

Morley was great at taking the ball at pace.

He mentioned that meeting you was the highlight of this weekend's visit and that you seemed to be an intelligent fellow, which seemed to be a rarity at Headingley.
