| Quote ="craigizzard"Hull board are always complaining about Houghton's passing from dummy-half and insist he makes so many tackles because the opposition run at him because he never wins the collision. Certainly don't think he'd be an upgrade on Aiton.
On topic, Roby, Clark, McIlorum and Lunt are the best hookers in the league, probably in that order, though with Roby declining and Clark improving that could change soon.'"
Hodgson is better than two of those.

| I must admit I was puzzled by some of the hull fc board moaning about the large amount of tackles houghton was undertaking . Why not ask some of his fellow pack colleagues to help him out, pehraps that's why they are struggling .
As for Lunt ,I have recorded several times on here my disappointment at our failure to sign him, chiefly because when we had him he was superb.
But I thought he was not the finished product, with some more coaching he could improve even more.
Also with moon,I thought it was a smart signing but he could improve. Which I think he has fulfilled that promise.
We have been unlucky with aiton,he just seemed to be clicking when he went on sick leave.
Maybe we could sign another hooker, certainly any signings in the future should be of the forward variety.

I saw it live and it wound me up, I'd forgotten about that.
It's been part of Wigan's game for a while and it's ehouse cowardly. I remember Cunningham going mental at Tomkins for doing it.

His form this season has not been that great. Whether that's the beginning of a long-term decline or just a blip I don't know. I do know Clark is improving though...

| I really don't like the way that Wane has got his charges playing this year and this was evident last night. Last season Wigan were playing with skill and style, structured attacking line and a disciplined defence. All that seems to have gone out of the windows replaced with a two pronged game plan:
[list=11. Slow the ruck down as much as is possible
2. Niggle like f*ck[/listicon_surprised.gif
I said it earlier, Shaun Wane is a 'win at all costs' coach and good luck to him. History doesn't remember how a team played so much, more the trophies in the cabinet. Personally I'd prefer to watch a team like Cas, playing way above their abilities because they are well coached with a decent game plan but not necessarily winning silverware.

What cannot be denied, is that Wigan have a very young team capable of winning silverware, whilst we have an old team capable of winning silverware.
It looks like Wigan have got their recruitment and development strategy spot on, with their youngsters eager to step up and grab their chance.
Whereas we seem a tad less adventurous, and under this coach happy to stick to a rigid and ageing squad. I hope GH has a cunning plan, or we're in for a decade of Pie People gloating.

That post just sounds bitter if I'm honest, we didn't play much different to Wigan last night under McLennan
As well as holding down a little longer than most teams (wish we would do it a bit more sometimes) they also play some great attacking rugby.

I don't feel bitter about losing to Wigan - we were out-played in every department, just I don't like how they're playing at the moment. Last year they were a pleasure to watch, this year they seem bullish and stretch the rules.

| As I have commented before Sean Wane really motivates his team and they certainly don't let him down.
The tackling last night was perfect, obviously the lesson to be learned from the undoubted success story at Wigan, is to develope the youth structure .
This is what the salary cap is designed for. I am not certain who will be the stand out stars of the future for Wigan from this crop of youngsters. But one things for certain some way down the line they will want top money for their performances. I can't finish without mentioning Salfords contribution to last nights match,or lack of. They were absolutely dreadful.
Advice to the good doctor, invest in a good youth structure with a good coach.

Spot on.
Although I was pleased to see that Crosby further reinforced my view of him despite Mr Gallery's refutation of my previous comments.
If he (Crosby) could cut out that aspect of his game he has good potential.
Dudson (I believe) was also up to his usual tricks of late hits on the kicker.
Burgess continues to impress with his turn of pace.

| Funny thing is McIlorum won't even get a fraction of the grief hardaker got, yet he's gone in with a deliberate late shot and the players been taken off in a neck brace.
Not even the slightest hint of remorse on his face as he was getting treated.
I hope he get's selected for england. The aussies will end his career.

| Wigan have been getting away with dirty cheap shot tactics all season.
It started with no neck from full back to Pettybourne.
Farrell plays the cheap shot every time I have seen him and as for McIllourum he is one fecking disgrace of a player.
How he gets away with it god only knows.
Can't remember the other cheap shot merchant who hit Danny McGuire late earlier in the season Dudson possibly?
Then again what do you expect from a nob of a coach who probably instills it in them.

Until RFL get a grip this is going to continue - Ref's allow them to extend the tackle through the wrestle which slows the PTB down to a snails pace. As for thuggery they have 3/4 - depending on who on the pitch at the time - who are very adapt at illegal stuff in the tackle - it starts with the captain!!

His captain is not much better and God help us if he is given the England captaincy
