Were the club to pay a lump sum into a player's testimonial kitty, would that constitute a breach of salary cap regulations?

As mentioned earlier, I think Ablett's will be next, then Kirke in 2016/17, then Hall, then there's Watkins & Jones-Bishop not long after. Assuming they all stay of course. But it's not unreasonable to suggest they might.

As for paying a lump sum, I think that would count on the salary cap.

As far as I understand it in general the money a player receives from a Testimonial is excluded from the salary cap. But that money has to come from testimonial events (friendly games, poker nights etc) and not as a direct payment from the club. AFAIK if a club did that then that money would be counted on the salary cap.

Possibly also the reason why an "outside" testimonial fund manager is always appointed while the club management stay a bargepole's length away.

Anyone got a list of the last 10 or so testimonials?

Does the amount of money that is realised get published?

After playing Oldham in 2005 for Barrie Mac's testimonial we played them again away in 2006 with McDermott this time lining up for Oldham.

10 years! I don't know what the rules are as to whether it'd be 2016 or 2017 for Kirke, I'd imagine he'd have to have his 10 years in at the start of the season so would probably be 2017. According to Frosties squad thread he's contracted until 2015. An easy, cheap 2 year final contract after that is most likely

Yeah I was trying to think when Peacocks was but as AG says I was sure it wasn't a 10 year testimonial for Leeds so couldn't remember whether it was a proper testimonial or not.

If Senior's was in 2007 his like Peacock's must have been organised through the RFL as he'd fail on the ten year qualification with a single club rule at that point.

Some will remember when Paul ran Southstander on the rivals.net platform so Southstander has been around a similar time to that of the Leeds skipper.

We're delighted it's not against your team, saves us plenty of cash on policing costs.

All over the different forums there are oaf's like you giving Bailey's testimonial lots and lots of publicity and he won't mind at all if you throw in a bit of character assassination whilst you help in boosting the coffers
